🏀🏆 PSSA Boys Basketball State Finals 🏆🏀

This week the OPS Boys Basketball team travelled to Penrith to compete against the top eight teams in NSW.

The boys showed incredible determination, teamwork and composure, winning their first two games (Keiraville PS) 52–51 and (Carlingford West PS) 52–48 to secure a place in the Grand Final.

They faced a strong Tamworth Public School side in the final and fought hard until the end, finishing Runners Up and 2nd in the state! 🥈🏀

We couldn’t be prouder of the boys and their outstanding achievement. A huge thank you to all the parents for their support and to Ben Keegan for his dedication and coaching throughout their journey.

Congratulations, boys — 2nd in NSW! We are so proud of you! 💙🏀

Cricket success! 🏏

Well done to our PSSA Boys Cricket Team on their win against Eglinton PS today at Max Stewart. All the boys played with great sportsmanship and gave it their all!

The boys now move onto the Western Semi-Finals! 👍🏼

🦸‍♀️ Not all superheroes wear capes! 🦸‍♂️

This SASS Recognition Week, we proudly acknowledge and celebrate the tireless work of our wonderful School Administrative and Support Staff at Orange Public School.

Our office staff are often the first friendly faces to welcome students, families and visitors while expertly managing the countless administrative tasks that keep our school running. Our Student Learning Support Officers provide patient, caring and responsive assistance to help students participate, learn and thrive. Our Technical Support Officer keeps our technology functioning and supports the digital systems essential to contemporary teaching and learning. Our General Assistants work tirelessly to maintain, repair and improve our grounds and facilities, helping to keep OPS safe, welcoming and ready for learning.

So much of their collective work happens quietly behind the scenes and may not always receive the public recognition it deserves—but it never goes unnoticed or unappreciated. Their care, flexibility, knowledge, patience and willingness to step in wherever needed make an enormous difference to our students, staff and families.

Our SASS staff are the superheroes who keep OPS moving and provide the steady foundation from which our students are supported to learn, grow and reach their potential.

Thank you for all that you do, day in and day out. You are an essential and deeply valued part of the OPS team.

💃 Bathurst Eisteddfod 💃

Congratulations to all of our wonderful performers who loved dancing on stage at the Bathurst Theatre on Monday. Not only was performing a highlight, but a bus trip with your friends is always pretty special too! 🚌💕

We are so proud of all of our talented students and the enthusiasm, teamwork and confidence they showed throughout the day.

Our troupes also came away with some lovely results:

Academy – 1st

A big thank you to everyone who cheered us on, helped get our dancers ready bright and early on Monday morning, and to our backstage helpers and supervising teachers. We really appreciate your support. ❤️

We’re looking forward to performing all of our dance routines again next week at the PSO Showcases. If you can’t make it to the shows, you’ll also be able to watch our dances via the live stream. ✨

Our Year 6 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enjoyed visiting Glenroi Heights Public School yesterday to participate in a STEM Workshop with DeadlyScience author, Corey Tutt. They enjoyed learning about all sorts of topics, including how carbon dating works, Aboriginal inventors and the many amazing things our native plants and animals can do.

🏀 PSSA Western Champions 🏀

Our PSSA boys’ basketball team travelled to West Wyalong on Monday to compete for the PSSA Western title. The boys arrived determined to win and excited to hit the court.

They played an outstanding game, coming away with a convincing 57–22 victory. Congratulations to West Wyalong on a great game and for demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the match.

OPS will now progress to the finals in Sydney, where the top eight teams from across the state will battle it out for the NSW title.

Congratulations, boys, and a big thank you to Ben Keegan for coaching and supporting the boys in West Wyalong. Best of luck in Sydney in the coming weeks.

We are so incredibly proud of the many students who submitted auditions for the PSO Performing Arts Project Poetry Recitation Enrichment Opportunity this year. It has been lovely to hear how many of our students took the opportunity to share their skills beyond our school.

Congratulations to eight OPS students who were named Top 10 Finalists, with Tilly L receiving a Highly Commended and Eleanor C being named Runner-Up.
As Runner-Up, Eleanor will now recite her poem as a featured performer in the Monday PSO Showcase — what a wonderful opportunity!

We wish Eleanor lots of luck as she continues rehearsing at school and at home over the next week in preparation for her performance. We know she will represent OPS beautifully.
