Today, Camden Council joined councils from across Western Sydney at the launch of the policy document, “Unlocking Homes: Accelerating delivery of local and state infrastructure for NSW”, hosted by Local Government NSW.
This was our united call for change- because right now, infrastructure is one of the biggest barriers to delivering new homes in our region.
In Camden, we’re seeing this firsthand. As our communities grow, road infrastructure is struggling to keep pace with development. Timely investment is critical to support new homes, reduce congestion and ensure people can move around our region safely and efficiently.
This is especially important as we look to strengthen connections to the Western Sydney International Airport and support long-term economic growth.
The Unlocking Homes plan outlines practical solutions, including a $5 billion interest-free loan fund and forward funding for essential infrastructure, to help councils deliver what communities need, when they need it.
We’re calling on the NSW Government to back this plan and work with councils to deliver the infrastructure needed to unlock housing across Western Sydney.
Without action, growth will continue to outpace investment, delaying homes and putting increased pressure on our communities. With the right support, we can deliver the roads, services and facilities our communities need, at the right time.
