Syed came to Australia as an international undergraduate student to study Economics in 2003. As he learned more about the concepts of egalitarianism and social justice, his interest in political economics grew. It was Ben Chifley’s 'Light on the Hill' speech that really resonated with him. He decided to learn more about the movement and spent the next 4-5 years reading up on this topic. He was inv
olved in student politics during his tertiary education years in Victoria. Syed formally became active in politics in 2009 and have volunteered in numerous elections and social advocacy campaigns. He is dedicated to fighting for the ordinary people and keeping NSW as well as Australia fair. He is committed to the values of equality, democracy, liberty and social co-operation. Syed is dad to 3 daughters and is raising his young family in Oran Park along with his wife Nafisa. He volunteers extensively in the local community, in particular for multiple P&C Associations and is part of the executives for Oran Park Public School P&C and Denham Court Public School P&C (as at 2022). Syed's current focus is on - campaigning for local public high schools for Gregory Hills and Leppington; campaigning for better infrastructure in the rapidly growing Camden/ Macarthur region; campaigning for a new public hospital in the population growth centre along the Norther Road corridor; and improving the social cohesion within the diverse and multicultural communities residing in great Macarthur region, particularly around Oran Park & Leppington.
