πŸ›» πŸ”₯ Truck and hay fire - Vineyard

At 8:16am this morning, Oakville Brigade was responded to a truck fire on Windsor Road at Vineyard.

On arrival, crews from Oakville and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone found a truck carrying round hay bales with the load well alight. Firefighters quickly got to work extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading further to the vehicle.

Additional resources from the Hawkesbury and surrounding districts were called to provide additional water and firefighters.

With the assistance of a landowner’s telehandler, burning hay bales were removed from the truck and pulled apart, allowing firefighters to fully extinguish the fire.

The fire is believed to have been caused by heat from the truck’s exhaust igniting the hay. Fortunately, passing motorists alerted the driver early, allowing him to safely pull into a nearby property where residents were able to begin suppressing the fire with garden hoses prior to the arrival of crews.

πŸ§‘β€πŸš’ A mix of weather has kept our crews busy, attending 7 separate incidents since yesterday afternoon.

Wind and rain brought down trees across the area, while crews also responded to several motor vehicle accidents and a number of other fires and pile burns.

πŸ”₯ Despite the recent wet weather, residents are reminded that in the Hawkesbury, pile burns must be of an appropriate size, and materials must be limited to fallen timber from your property only - no processed wood, plastics or rubbish.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend.
