Today, Plumpton members were diverted from another incident to a grass fire at Berkshire Park.

Working alongside neighbouring brigades, crews quickly contained the spread of the fire before extinguishing remaining hotspots and rendering the area safe.

As the Bush Fire Danger Period begins, this is a timely reminder that grass fires can be unpredictable and spread quickly. Take the time to prepare your property and know what you will do if fire threatens.

A great team effort by all crews involved.

Last night, a crew of 30+ members took part in interbrigade training with Marsden Park Rural Fire Brigade focusing on closed circuit relay pumping.

The crew was put through multiple realistic scenarios they could potentially face at any incident. In attendance were 1 Bulk Water, 2 Cat 1s, 1 Cat 7 and 1 Cat 9, giving members the opportunity to work together across a range of appliances and operational situations.

It was great to see excellent teamwork, strong communication and outstanding hose management throughout the night.

Training like this is essential, particularly with neighbouring brigades that we work alongside regularly. It's also invaluable for members who may be part of composite crews, allowing them to build confidence operating appliances they may not be familiar with.

A great night of learning, collaboration and strengthening the partnerships that help us provide the best possible service to our communities. Well done to everyone involved!

πŸ”₯ Winter Doesn't Mean Fire Free πŸ”₯

While the mornings are crisp and the evenings are cold, the threat of fire is still very real.

Over the past few weeks, we've seen multiple grass and bush fires occur across NSW, and we're still only in July!

Warmer than normal temperatures combined with below average rainfall have left many areas drier than expected for this time of year. This means grasses, leaf litter and other vegetation are drying out earlier, creating increased fuel loads and allowing fires to spread more easily.

Now is the time to prepare:
βœ… Check and maintain your property
βœ… Clear leaves and debris from around your home
βœ… Review your Bush Fire Survival Plan
βœ… Stay up to date with conditions in your area

Don't let the cool weather create a false sense of security. Fire can occur at any time, and preparation starts well before fire season officially begins.

πŸš’ Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums within our brigade and throughout our community.

Today we would like to recognise the incredible support that mums provide, not only within our brigade, but also at home while our members are away serving the local community and assisting across the state and country when needed.

Whether they are responding on the fireground, supporting behind the scenes, or holding everything together at home, the contribution and sacrifice made by mums does not go unnoticed.

From everyone at Plumpton Rural Fire Brigade, thank you for everything you do and we hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
