It can be easy to assume that you’re not at risk of bushfire.

But we know that’s not the case.

Much of Queensland is experiencing high fire danger, with parts of the south and central regions facing extreme risk, particularly in forested areas.

Hot and dry south westerly winds are sweeping across the state, creating conditions where fires can spread quickly and become difficult to control.

We’re asking everyone to take this risk seriously.

If you live near bushland, a fire could reach your doorstep in minutes.

Prepare your home now and make sure you have a bushfire escape plan in place.

LISTEN UP QUEENSLANDERS 🔥

Today’s Fire Danger Rating is expected to reach HIGH across most of the state.

It takes just one spark to start a potentially dangerous bushfire, requiring a significant response from our crews.

If you live within the areas of high fire danger it’s important that you carefully consider any plans to use machinery around vegetation, such as for slashing or mowing.

If work does need to happen, make sure you have water on hand to immediately extinguish any small fires that may start.

Any fires should be reported immediately by calling Triple Zero (000).
