Good Evening Nymboida,

As you know we currently have a couple fires in the general area. The largest being boundary creek Rd. This is being monitored and attended to by the RFS both local brigades and we are very lucky to have brigades from further out and leading us a hand.

We again would like to advise people to check their fire plans. Also that hazards near me is a useful app to help keep you up to date with any changes in fire conditions.

If you would like to join your local brigade we are currently recruiting. Please PM for more information. If you want to chat to a Brigade member we are just a PM away.

We hope you all enjoy the long weekend. If you see an unattended fire please call triple 000.

Morning Nymboida,

As we can all see and smell smoke haze is in the air. This is affecting a lot of the Clarence valley. It is due to a mixture of Hazard reductions burns being completed by Fire brigades and Property Owners completing their own management plans and very little wind.

Nymboida brigade was called out to one fire yesterday.

As always if you see an unattended fire please call Triple '000'.

To keep up with hazards in the area. The app :Hazards near me' is a great resource.

If you would like to join the Nymboida brigade or just want to chat to us we are us a PM away too.

Hello Nymboida just a small update to keep everyone in the loop.

Currently Nymboida has no active fires.
The smoke we are experiencing is from fires that we have had the last couple of days and fires in other locations in the Clarence valley.
Due to the lack of wind the smoke has been settling and giving us the haze we have been dealing with the last couple of days.

As always if you see an unattended fire please call triple 000.

A good app to have is hazards near me. It will help keep you up to date with what hazards are currently in the area.

There is more intense weather on the way, with damaging winds bringing another cold front across the South eastern parts of the state.

A North Westerly has developed over South Western parts of the state with winds averaging up to 60km/h and wind gusts of up to 100 km/h with conditions expected to ease Thursday morning. Blizzard conditions are also expected in the alpine areas.

If you are planning a pile burn, consider postponing it until conditions have eased.
It might look wet, but escaped pile burns can still cause grassfires, as some of our Local Government areas have already entered their Bushfire Danger Period and another six will enter theirs from 1st September.

Have you set up your Watch Zones in the Hazards Near Me NSW app yet?
The app shows information and warnings on bush fires and floods, and over time, more hazards will be
added to the app.
You can set up a Watch Zone to be notified about incidents and warnings in your area.

Today, 31 March, marks the end of the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) for the majority of NSW. However, due to the ongoing fire risk, the BFDP will be extended in 11 Local Government Areas, including parts of the Central Tablelands and north-west regions.

While many landholders may no longer require a fire permit, you are still required to notify the RFS and your neighbours of your intention to burn at least 24 hours before lighting the fire.

For more information on the bush fire danger period and fire permits, visit the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP
