Not all heroes wear capes — some wear orange. 🧡

This National Volunteer Week and Wear Orange Wednesday, we’re continuing to highlight the incredible people behind the NSW SES Nowra Unit.

Our volunteers are everyday members of the community who dedicate their time to helping others during storms, floods and emergencies. They leave family dinners, pause their normal routines and answer the call when support is needed most.

Their commitment, teamwork and community spirit are what keep units like ours running strong.

From community, for community. 🧡

Behind every orange uniform is a story. 🧡

A parent. A tradie. A student. A nurse. A mate. A neighbour.

This week, as we celebrate National Volunteer Week and Wear Orange Wednesday, we’re proud to showcase the diverse volunteers who make up the NSW State Emergency Service Nowra Unit.

Our members come from all walks of life, bringing different skills, experiences and strengths — but they all share the same passion for helping their community.

When emergencies happen, these are the people who step forward.

Thank you to all SES volunteers for the difference you make every single day. 🧡

This week we celebrate National Volunteer Week alongside Wear Orange Wednesday 2026. 🧡

Over the coming days, we’ll be showcasing some of the amazing volunteers who make up the NSW SES Nowra Unit, ordinary people walking everyday life in your community who step up when others need help most in extraordinary ways.

Our volunteers are your coworkers, friends, neighbours and family members. They give their time to support the community during storms, floods and emergencies, often when people are at their most vulnerable.

After all, our volunteers are truly “from community, for community.”

Thank you to all our incredible volunteers for everything you do. 🧡
