Last year, nearly half the homes damaged or destroyed by fire in NSW did not have a working smoke alarm! Be smart and take part in Smoke Alarm Action Day, and test your smoke alarm works! A working smoke alarm is your best early warning sign of a fire, giving you and your loved ones the chance to get out, stay out, and call Triple Zero (000).

🚨 We would like to thank everyone who attended the Fire and Rescue NSW Station 405 Nowra Open Day yesterday. πŸ’¦ πŸ‘©β€πŸš’ πŸ’¦ πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

With the sun shining β˜€οΈ and more than 500 people through the station across the day, the event was an incredible success. It was fantastic to see so many families, especially the kids, getting involved and learning about fire safety, exploring the trucks and equipment, and taking part in the activities. The sausage sizzle was a huge hit along with the show bags all kids received. Not even a fire call during the day could stop the action.

A special thank you also goes to the RFS Transport Brigade for their assistance and support throughout the day.

Thank you again to our community for your continued support of FRNSW 405 Nowra. We loved having you all there and hope everyone had a fantastic day and look forward to seeing you again next year πŸ”₯ πŸš’

Happy Mother's Day to every mum out there.

A special shoutout to our firefighter mums, the ones who finish a shift and start another one at home.

Thanks for everything you do.

Today, crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 405 Nowra attended the Emergency Services Games at Terara Public School alongside the South Coast Police District, Mounted Unit - NSW Police Force, NSW Ambulance and the Royal Australian Navy.

The students took part in a range of firefighter style drills with a big focus on teamwork, communication and having fun. Activities included tackling obstacle courses while carrying buckets of water, dragging firefighters and rescuing fellow students in the Stokes litter and sprayed water using fire hoses at targets.

To finish off a fantastic day, firefighters turned the hoses on the police officers and some brave teachers, who used riot shields for protection while attempting to rescue the dummy! There were plenty of laughs, smiles and great memories made by everyone involved.

A huge thank you to the Bomaderry Nowra Lions Club for providing a brilliant lunch for all the emergency services personnel and volunteers.

An outstanding day brilliantly organised by South Coast Police District and enjoyed by all.

PREPARE NOW

Are you prepared if a bush or grass fire threatens you? On days of EXTREME fire danger you should reconsider non-essential travel in high risk areas and consider packing emergency supplies such as drinking water and medications in case you cannot get back home.

UNATTENDED CAMP FIRES PUT OUR COMMUNITY AT RISK

RFS firefighters have extinguished numerous unattended illegal camp fires around our waterways today. These fires are in remote and difficult to access areas and put our community at risk.

Don't be 'that person' - understand the risk and know the rules. RFS and Police will be undertaking proactive patrols throughout the day.
