Today is Thank a First Responder Day.

Thank you to all of South Australia’s first responders, and to the families and friends who support the selfless work you do for our communities.

We should never forget that we ask you to put yourselves in harm’s way to keep others safe.

I especially want to acknowledge my fellow St John Ambulance Australia volunteers, and our friends in the SA Ambulance Service.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice and your commitment to others.

A wonderful afternoon spent at the Parliamentary Friends of Ending Poverty Group event. Thank you to my fellow Co-Chair, Alicia Payne MP and everyone who attended.

We were delighted to hear from The Salvation Army Australia, who launched their 2026 Red Shield Report. This piece of research sheds light on the experiences of people facing hardship in our Nation. You can access the report via their website: https://www.salvationarmy.org.au/about-us/news-and-stories/publications-and-resources/the-red-shield-report-2026/

Today marks the official public birthday of His Majesty The King.

For decades, long before environmentalism became mainstream, he gave voice to a philosophy rooted in harmony, stewardship, and reverence for creation. He is a man of great wisdom.

In Senate Estimates this week. Questioning the Commonwealth War Graves Commission on the damage of the Australian war graves in Gaza.

When the conflict ends, there will be an urgent need to repair the damage and restore the human remains to their sacred resting place.

A great morning catching up with Peter Wadewitz and his team at Peats Soil & Garden Supplies! It was fantastic to hear about the innovative work they are undertaking in South Australia and beyond.

They developed BiobiN in response to the growing need to recycle the large amounts of organic and wet materials being sent to landfill. You can read more about it on their website: https://www.peatssoil.com.au/

The world has a growing problem with landfill. We cannot continue to dump our waste in the ground. That is why innovations, such as BiobiN, are so important. Not only to reduce waste but transform it into useful products.

It was a pleasure to celebrate 60 years of Tzu Chi at their Buddha Day Celebration in Adelaide. This occasion also marked the 90th birthday of Master Cheng Yen, the founder of the Foundation.

Thank you to all the Tzu Chi volunteers. You do so much for our communities in helping the disadvantaged and caring for our planet.

The Murray-Darling Basin Plan Review is not just revisiting the Plan. It is a review into the future of our State. Without a healthy Murray River, we cannot sustain life. The very existence of our community is being debated on the national stage. No River Murray, no SA.

Each year, I forsake marching on ANZAC Day with my brothers and sisters in arms. Instead, I march with my fellow Legatees and the families in our care. War comes at a horrible cost. The burden is disproportionately shared by the families of those that survive.

Lest We Forget.

A moving service at the RSL - RSL - Tea Tree Gully Sub Branch

Today we take time out of our busy lives to honour our war dead. We give thanks for their sacrifice. We also give thanks to their families, who gave up their loved ones for the sake of our Nation.

We will remember them.
