Our crews were assisted by SES both last night and this morning to clear the trees away. This morning’s call-out fell on a live power line, so crews had to wait until SAPN were able to turn the power off before getting to work!

Please remember to stay 10m away from any compromised power line.

It’s another tree down!

Your local and trusty Norton Summit crew were called out to Colonial Dr around 3pm today. We made light work of the tree using chainsaws and our strong arms just in time for our community to get home from work safe on these roads!

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning ⚠️ for DAMAGING WINDS 💨 for Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of Riverland, Murraylands, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 4:29 am Central Standard Time on Monday 1 June 2026

Damaging winds to affect South Australia from later this morning.

Weather Situation: A strong cold front will sweep across the state today bringing isolated damaging wind gusts to much of the state. A deep low pressure system will follow this afternoon bringing a broader damaging wind risk over western parts of the state, extending eastwards to the Adelaide region as well as central and southeastern parts during Monday evening as the low passes to the south of Adelaide overnight.

DAMAGING WIND GUSTS to 90 km/h are possible across western and central parts of the state from late Monday morning, including Adelaide and the Mt Lofty Ranges.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts to 100 km/h become likely about the West Coast, Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula during Monday afternoon, extending to the remainder of the warning area, including Adelaide and the southeast, during Monday evening.

DAMAGING WINDS are expected to ease over coastal and low lying areas, including Adelaide, during Tuesday morning, and then gradually ease over the Flinders Ranges and Mt Lofty Ranges during Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Strathalbyn, Maitland, Whyalla, Mount Gambier, Ceduna and Port Augusta.

* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

A busy start to our week…
Another job today to a power pole fire in Teringie at 4:48 PM. Crews extinguished the fire with dry powder and monitored the scene until SAPN arrived.

Norton Summit - Ashton CFS responded to a tree down this morning at 7:42 AM on Lobethal Rd. Crews worked quick to remove the fallen tree limbs from the road and guide traffic past in a safe manner.

Fire Danger Season has now officially ended across the entire state.

While the season has ended, we remind everyone to continue exercising caution when using fire. Conditions can still change quickly, and it’s important to monitor the weather and remain vigilant.

⚠️ Elevated Fire Weather Forecast for Tomorrow ⚠️

While tomorrow officially marks the end of the Fire Danger Season, dry conditions remain across the state and continue to pose an increased fire risk.

This week alone, our volunteers have responded to more than 14 grass fires across the state, highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread.

🔥 With the risk still in the landscape, please take caution and remain vigilant when conducting any activity involving fire.

If conducting a burn, ensure a responsible person is in attendance at all times, water or a suitable fire extinguisher is available, and regularly check once the fire is extinguished to ensure it hasn't reignited. Ensure you follow any local restrictions or guidelines.

Your actions can help prevent unwanted fires and keep our communities safe.
