Across the Wheatbelt, sport brings communities together, and thereโ€™s one group we canโ€™t play withoutโ€ฆ our umpires and officials.

Thanks to Football West for sharing this message which is an important reminder across every sport we play.

Umpires are essential to the game. They give up their time to support country sports across all ages, and ensure sport is safe, fair and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Without them, there is no game.

Letโ€™s work together to create a positive environment for our umpires:

โœ… Respect decisions, even when you disagree
โœ… Thank umpires and officials at the end of the game
โœ… Set the example for players, spectators and young people.

Our referees step onto the field to do their best and help make the game possible.

Decisions must be made in seconds, often under pressure โฑ๏ธ

Respect the referee.

Volunteers have certainly been front of mind over the past few weeks pre and post National Volunteer Week - and for good reason - they are the backbone of our clubs and communities across the Wheatbelt ๐Ÿ’›

While there are some fantastic formal awards that we can nominate our volunteers for, it doesnโ€™t always need to be complicated to recognise the people making a difference!

SportWest has a simple way to celebrate volunteers through their Volunteer Map initiative, where anyone can share a story and acknowledge a local legend.

There's a few of our amazing Wheatbelt volunteers featuredโ€ฆ but we know there are so many more deserving stories out there!

โœ… It only takes a few minutes
โœ… You can recognise anyone aged 18+
โœ… Every contribution matters, no matter how big!

Letโ€™s keep the momentum of National Volunteer Week going and make sure our region is represented!

Jump on, share a story and give 3 cheers to someone who keeps your club going strong!

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week!

At CITS, reconciliation is reflected in the work we do every day - across creative industries, multicultural interests, sport, tourism, infrastructure and community.
Through our Reconciliation Action Plan, we are committed to delivering meaningful outcomes that strengthen relationships, respect culture and create opportunities for Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This includes:
๐Ÿ“š Preserving and sharing Aboriginal histories to support truth-telling and connection to Country
๐ŸŽจ Supporting Aboriginal artists and cultural storytelling through programs like Revealed and PALS
๐ŸŽ“ Partnering with schools and communities to build understanding and connection through education initiatives
๐Ÿƒ Expanding participation in sport and recreation through inclusive programs and community partnerships
๐ŸŒ Supporting Aboriginal cultural tourism and opportunities for businesses to share culture and stories
๐Ÿค Building understanding across culturally diverse communities through shared learning and dialogue
๐Ÿ— Embedding Aboriginal culture and design into major infrastructure projects across WA
๐Ÿข Creating culturally safe workplaces and increasing opportunities through employment and procurement

There is more to do, and we are committed to the journey.
