Last Thursday’s training was open to all bush fire brigades across the Shire of Northam.

Thank you to the members from Clackline-Muresk, Irishtown and Northam Central who attended.

Our volunteers refreshed their understanding of on-road driving, covering the key legislative, safe work and practical aspects of driving under emergency conditions.

We are currently recruiting new volunteers! 🚒 If you have any questions about becoming a volunteer, complete our Expression of Enquiry form and someone will contact you ASAP.

2026 WAFES Conference & Awards 🚒🏆

Volunteers from some Northam Shire bush fire brigades, including Northam Central, attended the WAFES Conference and Awards this weekend.

It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, network with fellow volunteers and celebrate the dedication and achievements of those who give so much to our communities.

🚒 Thursday night training

This week our members refreshed their skills in responding to incidents.

We covered a number of topics including: safely turning out, arriving on scene, resource-tracking on scene, managing stand-downs and safely returning to station.

Another great night of training to keep our members prepared and our community safe. 👨‍🚒🔥

It’s not too late to join Northam Central Bushfire Brigade before the upcoming fire season! If you’re interested in getting involved 👉 Enquire here: https://northamshire1.formstack.com/forms/applicant_enquiry_form

Thursday night training 🚒

This week our members practised their Rural Urban Interface (RUI) skills, focusing on asset protection and strategies used to help protect homes, property and infrastructure during bushfires.

A big thank you to everyone from the different brigades who attended, and to Kris, Deputy Chief, for the photos 📸

🔥Our History🔥

Did you know Northam Central Volunteer Bushfire Brigade was formed 7 years ago in August 2019?

While we’ve seen plenty of changes over the years, from new faces and new fire appliances to a new station, our goal has always remained the same: protecting our community. 🚒

🔥Summer firefighters are made in winter!🔥

Did you know winter is the best time to join your local fire brigade?

While we welcome new volunteers year-round, joining during winter gives you the best opportunity to complete your training before the upcoming bushfire season begins.

During the high-threat bushfire season (November–April), our volunteers are busy responding to emergencies, so opportunities for recruiting and training new members are more limited.

Don’t wait until summer. Start this winter and be ready when your community needs you most.

📍 register your interest here https://northamshire1.formstack.com/forms/applicant_enquiry_form and come and meet the crew at Northam Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade.

🚒💦 Getting ready for another fire season means making sure we’re prepared for whatever comes our way.

Last Thursday’s training focused on drafting - the process of filling a fire truck from a static water source such as a farm dam, swimming pool or water tank when there are no standpipes or hydrants available.

Being able to quickly and safely access water in rural areas is a vital skill for volunteer firefighters and can make all the difference during a bushfire.

Interested in joining Northam Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade? We’re always looking for new members! No experience is necessary - training is provided. Find out more or register your interest here: https://northamshire1.formstack.com/forms/applicant_enquiry_form 🚒
