Over August Nobby RFB has been hard at work conducting hazard reduction burns to prepare for the fire season ahead.

As we head into spring, and the weather begins to warm, its important to make sure you are prepared for fire season and have a bushfire survival plan. There are also plenty of other ways to make your property prepared for bushfire season other than burning. Such as slashing/mowing, cleaning gutters of leaf litter, and creating fire breaks or tracks around assets.

As we head into the warmer months it is likely we are going to see an increase in fire activity, so ensure you are bushfire prepared and in an emergency call 000

Nobby would like to congratulate our local S.E.S Unit, Clifton S.E.S for recieving the chief officers shield award for their outstanding work during the over 100 responses they conducted after the storms on Nov 1st 2025.

We are lucky to have Clifton S.E.S in times of disaster and appreciate the hard work the volunteers put in to keep our community safe in times of emergency.

Notice a bit of smoke in the air over the weekend?

Nobby RFB was hard at work on sunday completing multiple hazard reduction burns in the Nobby/Clifton community. With bushfire season coming closer, its important to ensure you are bushfire prepared, and a hazard reduction burn is the perfect way to prepare.

If you require a Permit for a hazard mitigation burn. Please contact your local fire warden. Or message us, and we will get back to you with more info.

On Mondays training Nobby RFB was able to utilise a Virtual Reality (VR) simulator from head office to conduct training scenarios and build our skills.

The VR simulator was a fun and interactive way to engage in fire fighting activities, understand different concepts for various types of fire and develop our spacial awareness.

Hazard reduction burns will remove fuel load from your property ready for fire season and Winter is the best time to do it!

With a permit from your local fire warden you can conduct burns above 2m in any direction. You can also request your local rural fire brigade to assist with the burns depending on size and resources available.

THE SHAVE IS COMPLETE!

Our firefighters Harry and Stui, completed the worlds greatest shave on monday and raised over $300 for those fighting cancer. Stui and Harry would like to thank those who donated, spread awareness and supported the cause.
Whilst they both have alot less hair, they have alot more to be proud of.
And a special thankyou to Sarah, our specialist shaver for the evening, who looked like she was having a little too much fun.

ATTENTION! 2 of our fire fighters are taking on the worlds greatest shave this year to raise money for those diagnosed with cancer. They will both be losing their hair on the 8th of June! Stui Woodside: " ive been with Nobby RFB for 2 years now, and I am donating my hair to raise money for cancer research and wigs. Ive been growing it for 3 years and im ready to get it gone!"

Harrison Auld: "I joined Nobby RFB just over 1 year ago and being apart of it has taught me the importance of helping the community and helping others. That is why im participating in worlds greatest shave, to raise money for those effected by cancer. "

Its National Volunteer week this week, brigades like ours are run souly on volunteers from the community to keep active and be there in times of need. Thankyou to the volunteers that keep our brigade going. Whether once a week, once a month, or only a couple times a year the time you sacrifice is always appreciated.
