It’s dry. Really dry.

Despite the conditions though, our young heifers are doing incredibly well.

They’re holding their condition, growing out nicely and looking healthy and happy. Some of the early W drops will be joining our AI program next month 🤞

Today we said goodbye to our sweet girl, SPS M18 Steggles Matilda — “Tilly” 💔

Tilly suffered an injury a couple of months ago and, despite everyone’s best efforts, she simply wasn’t able to heal. What made it even harder was knowing she was heavily in calf. Through everything, she held onto that pregnancy, and today, as we said our final goodbye, we had the privilege of saving her unborn bull calf via C-section.

So, in the middle of a pretty heartbreaking day, there was a little bit of hope!

Tilly leaves behind 15 registered progeny, plus one still pending, several embryos that are now so much more valuable to us, and a legacy that will be felt through our herd for many years to come.

Her progeny have shaped our stud, and we simply wouldn’t be where we are today without her influence.
Among them is Novae Tamagotchi, who won Champion Lightweight Led Steer, the MSA Eating Quality Award and first place for Carcasses from group of 3 steers at Ekka in 2023.

We have retained two full embryo sisters Novae Tesseract and Novae Tallahassee Lassie (who is due to calve herself any day now).

There’s Novae Parabellum “Harry”, our very first stud sale in 2021, and Novae Ultra Violet, who graced the front cover of Hot Spot in 2025. Novae Valar, Vandal, Uber Soldat, Vanguard and Viper were all sold privately last year, along with many other daughters, sons and genetics that continue Tilly’s influence.

She was a true matron of our herd — one of those cows whose value went far beyond what was written on a registration certificate. She bred, she raised, she contributed, and she left her mark.

We will miss her enormously.

But this evening, her little bull calf is alive and well, and we couldn’t ask for a better outcome from a day that started with such a difficult goodbye.

Our new Jersey girl, Dolly, has officially been put to work and she seems to have understood the assignment perfectly. It feels fitting that as we farewell one great matron, another girl has stepped up to help carry her legacy forward.

Rest easy, Tilly. Your job here is done — and you did it exceptionally well 💜

A little bit of Jersey sweetness arrived last night here at Novae Speckle Park 🐮

This beautiful mumma and her gorgeous foster heifer calf have joined the ranks to become our new milkbar & we couldn’t be happier to have them here.

After tossing around a few name ideas, we settled on Dolly & Pearl — a special tribute to Dolly Parton, who sadly passed away yesterday, so we thought it was a fitting pair of names for two very special girls 💕

We are very excited to see what the future holds for our Jersey Girls!

Another special mention for Novae Valar, who we sold privately to Two K Speckle Park in 2025. She graces the ring at Ekka today - kicking off at 8:30am!

Valar has come a long way since taking out Reserve Junior Champion at Grafton, Casino and the Toowoomba Royal. We love seeing her continue to make an impression.💚

She even graced the Casino Beef Week billboard — clearly a born poster girl! 📸

A proud breeder moment at the Ekka 💜

Novae Uh Oh and her beautiful heifer calf Two K Xanadu are looking a million dollars together and we can't wait to watch them strut their stuff on Saturday!

Uh Oh was sold through the March 2025 Hot Spot Multi-Vendor Speckle Park Auction to Two K Speckle Park, before heading to the Toowoomba Show (winning Reserve Junior Champion 🏅) and then finally making her way to her new home on 29th March, 2025.

Not long after, Uh Oh was introduced to Two K Victor. It's fair to say Victor knew exactly what he was doing, with this beautiful heifer calf arriving on 20th January 2026!

We couldn’t be happier seeing this pair at the Ekka and watching Uh Oh continue to do such a great job as a young cow.

And of course, Uh Oh had to arrive in style still wearing her Hot Spot buyer gift halter — we think she’s making sure everyone remembers she was a sale-day favourite! 😉

Congratulations to Two K Speckle Park on her beautiful calf. We’re so proud to have bred and sold Uh Oh and to see her producing the next generation.

Watching the livestream from home today as our boy Novae Wolverine stepped into a strong class of 22 steers at the Ekka - Class 3A.

Wolverine was pulled forward from the back line but just missed out on making the top 7 ribbon line. We are incredibly proud of how he presented amongst some quality competition.

Thank you once again to Amber Kahler for doing a fantastic job leading him.

With our Ekka appearance now complete, we look forward to seeing how Wanda and Wolverine go in The Caboolture Mazda Beef Grand Prix hook component🤞

What a great day at the Ekka, we love catching up with fellow breeders 🤠

Today was all about the led heifer classes, with Novae Wanda stepping into an incredibly competitive class of 35 junior heifers. While she didn't come home with a ribbon this time, we are so proud of how she represented our stud. Congratulations to M&M Show Steers and Fitting Service for taking out Reserve Champion Junior Heifer! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who helped get Wanda to the ring and looking her best. Special mention to the wonderful Amber, who handled her beautifully in the ring, and to John Willcocks, whose expert show fitting always has our cattle looking their absolute best. Thank you also to Jane for all the clipping and preparation—you truly make them look a million dollars!

Although we can't make it back tomorrow for the steer judging, we couldn't resist sneaking in a quick photoshoot with our boy Novae Wolverine before we headed home. 🤞 Best of luck to him in the ring—we'll be cheering him on from afar!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. It really is a team effort, and we appreciate every bit of help.

We'll be back on Saturday for the Purebred Speckle Park judging, and we're looking forward to another great day at the Ekka!
