NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK // This week, Young Parents College recognises National Reconciliation Week – a meaningful time to reflect on our shared history and look ahead with hope toward a more united future.
These dates acknowledge two significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey: the 1967 Referendum and the Mabo decision, both key steps in recognising the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Within our Young Parents community, we see reconciliation as something we actively live out – through respect, understanding and care for one another. We are committed to building a supportive environment that honours and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories and futures.
Together, we continue to listen, learn and walk forward – side by side.

NATIONAL SORRY DAY – FROM SORRY TO ACTION // Today, 26 May, Young Parents College acknowledges National Sorry Day and this year’s theme, From Sorry to Action.
It is a powerful reminder that while acknowledging the past is important, we must also take meaningful steps forward. Sorry expresses empathy – but action helps create lasting change.
Within our community, we are committed to walking together in respect and understanding, and to continuing the journey of truth-telling and healing.
We invite you to join us in marking this important day and reflecting on how we can each play a role in moving from words to action.

ENRICHMENT // This week in Enrichment, our Young Parents at Newcastle got creative, crafting beautiful trinket trays and ring dishes using air-dry clay and colourful serviettes

Each piece reflects their creativity and care, with unique designs that they should be so proud of. Once dried and varnished, these keepsakes will be both practical and special reminders of their work.

We love seeing our students exploring new skills and expressing themselves through hands-on learning!

WELLBEING WALK AT SOMERSBY FALLS // Our Young Parents students had the chance to step away from the classroom and reconnect with nature on a beautiful wellbeing walk at Somersby Falls.
Surrounded by lush bushland, flowing water and fresh air, it was the perfect setting to slow down, reflect and enjoy some time together. Experiences like this are so important for mental wellbeing—offering a chance to reset, build connections and appreciate the beauty right here on the Central Coast.
We’re proud to provide opportunities that support not just learning, but overall wellbeing.
