The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams competed in the NSWPSSA Football Knockout Competition this morning at Lake Macquarie Football Facility against Kotara South ⚽️

The boys came back from 3-1 down to take the game to extra time, and with the score being 3-3 at the end, they advanced by winning on corners (7-5) 😮‍💨

The girls dominated from start to finish and won 7-0, with Aarushi slotting four goals 🥅🥳

Well done to all of the students involved and thanks to the parents who came to support! 🙌🏻

What a great day for pyjama day- so cosy in our winter woolies! And, what a great success we had with our food drive for Soul Hub! We had hundreds of donations and a group of our students even held a cake stall on the weekend and raised $45! Outstanding! Big thanks to our SRC and Ms Mitchell for organising such a worthy charity day.

Stage 3 attended a workshop today with Upcycle Newcastle and learnt all about the circular economy. They got to participate in a play which taught them all about the environmental benefits of upcycling. Then they got to work stuffing some cushions for our classroom with fabric scraps. If you look at the cushions closely, they feature scraps from upcycled MHPS uniforms!

A big thank you to our marvellous P & C!
We are incredibly grateful to our P&C for their very generous support in helping us resource K-2 classrooms with more hands-on readers for our home reading program. We have already started reading logs, and from next week, classes will begin to stock new take-home readers to support students and families. The new books include a great selection of readers and decodable chapter books, designed to build confidence and enjoyment in reading.
Thank you to our P&C and to all families for partnering with us in supporting our children's literacy development.
Kinder students are already excited to see the new resources being unpacked.

Well done to the MHPS netball team who competed at the PSSA knockout Netball Gala Day today.
Throughout the day, our students displayed outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, effort and school spirit. The team played 3 fantastic games, and while they did not make it through to the next level, they should be incredibly proud of the way they supported one another, showed resilience and represented our school with pride.
A big thank you to our parents and carers for their support throughout the day. Your encouragement and assistance helped make the experience such a positive one for our students.
Well done to all students on fantastic day of netball and teamwork!

Congratulations to Aarushi who has made it into the Hunter PSSA Football Team! Aarushi was first selected to represent City Zone and then continued to be successful in the Possibles Vs Probables selection round. Aarushi will play in the NSW Championships in Tuggerah in September. A great achievement!

Today, 1MC had a wonderful literacy lesson with Miss O’Sullivan, who taught the class all about effective feedback.

Students worked collaboratively in pairs, using a rubric to evaluate their narrative writing and identify areas for improvement. Through thoughtful discussion and reflection, they gained valuable insights into how they can strengthen their writing and become more confident authors.

Well done, 1MC, on your excellent teamwork and commitment to improving your writing skills!
