Last night Mariah and Louise of the NAWIC Tasmanian Chapter travelled to Sydney to represent as National Finalists in the Best Practise in a Workplace for the 2026 Life Awards. A special thank you to Relationships Australia Tasmania for supporting us to attend this incredible evening.

The team were so proud to be recognised and this showcases the strength and diversity of the work by our incredible communities across the country in active prevention of su***de. The lived experiences shared translated into passion to improve the lives of the many and our community is no exception.

This opportunity to celebrate, reflect and connect was invaluable for the team and a great way to shed light on the continued impacts on our industry when we don't priortise action to have fair, respectful and inclusive workplaces across the sector.

We see the power of our incredible NAWIC network - who this recogition truely belongs to! Congratulations to you all and thank you.

A united Tasmanian presence at this week’s National Su***de Prevention Conference in Sydney, hosted by Su***de Prevention Australia 💙

Representing communities from across the state, members of the Tasmanian Su***de Prevention Community Network came together from service providers, government, community-led programs, and lived experience, all connected by a shared commit to su***de prevention and a brighter future.

With this year’s theme, United Voices, Brighter Futures, it was inspiring to see such a strong Tasmanian presence. Across the week, there was a natural pull towards one another, sharing ideas, strengthening connections, building momentum, and supporting each other along the way.

Through out the conference, there was a wide mix of thought provoking speakers, people sharing their lived and living experience, along with professionals, researchers, community members, and volunteers. Everyone brought experience, expertise, and courage to su***de prevention.

Some Tassie highlights included Amanda from Mental Health Council of Tasmania sharing insights from the development of the Take a minute. mental wellbeing literacy campaign.

We also saw Laura and the team from THEIRS lead a practical session amplifying youth voices, demonstrating how young people’s perspectives can shape community-led su***de prevention.

Both were brilliant reflections of the meaningful and impactful work happening across the state.

And of course we were SO excited to hear that next year’s conference will be held in Hobart, a fantastic opportunity for Tasmania to host and contribute to the national conversation.

Thank you, Su***de Prevention Australia, we can’t wait to welcome you to Tasmania in 2027!

Congratulations to all of the 2026 National LiFE Award recipients! 💙

We were so proud to have Trista (Lounge Coordinator) and Annie (Lounge Facilitator) representing The Lounge at the LiFE Awards - alongside such a strong North West presence.

It was incredible to see just how many individuals and organisations from our region are showing up, doing meaningful work, and making a real difference.

Moments like this feel both grounding and humbling… a reminder that we’re part of something bigger.

Opportunities like the LiFE Awards aren’t just about recognition. They’re about strengthening relationships, sharing ideas, and continuing to build a network of support so that together, we can create a more connected, compassionate, and thriving community.

We’re so grateful to stand alongside so many passionate people across the North West 🤍

A special part of this year’s Tasmanian Su***de Prevention Forum was hearing directly from 4 community-led initiatives across Tasmania. Each sharing what it’s really like behind the scenes of the work they are doing to grow hope, connection, and change from the ground up.

Each person brought their own style and way of sharing, and the session was intentionally shaped this way to create space for people to show up as they are - real, genuine, and authentic in how they share.

In this section we heard from (left to right):

🌿Amanda Cuthbertson – Albie House
🌿Jorinde Tenten – Hilltop Hike
🌿Cate Warren – Cygnet Community Hub
🌿Monique Brumby – Still Gardening

Across each presentation, what really came through was the dedication, care, time, and enthusiasm each person brings to their work, all grounded in local leadership, collaboration, and a real commitment to their communities.

We know we could have filled the space many times over with the breadth of work happening across the state, and we look forward to continuing to grow and share this space in the future.

Thank you, Amanda, Jorinde, Cate, and Monique for sharing your time, your work, and your stories with us. 💙
