The Smith Family is a national charity committed to supporting disadvantaged Australian children through their targeted programs and are valued supporters of Nerang State School and our families.

Last week, our Year One students enjoyed a very exciting visit from the Nerang Fire Station team! The firefighters taught the children all about the importance of fire safety and how to stay safe in an emergency.
The students were challenged to learn their home address and talk with their families about the smoke alarms in their homes. They also practised important safety skills, including getting “down low and go, go, go” in the event of a fire and remembering to “stop, drop and roll” if their clothes ever caught fire.

The Emergency Services are always a crowd pleaser at our Under 8s Day celebration! A huge thank you to Queensland Fire Department and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) for supporting our school and the community.

The junior students at Nerang State School were very excited to welcome the team from The Rolling Barnyard . Students could feed, pat and learn more about how to care for the visiting farm animals. A heartfelt thank you to The Rolling Barnyard for supporting our Under 8s Day celebration.

Well done to all the student who represented Nerang State School at District Cross Country. Our runners demonstrated great determination and effort throughout their races and represented our school with pride. We are proud of the way they challenged themselves and gave their best against strong competition from across the district.

We were delighted to have the team from Bunnings Warehouse Australia at our Under 8s Day celebration last week! The Nerang team enthusiastically supported our students as they got their hands dirty and explored their creativity through designing their very own Zen gardens.

Our Under 8s Day celebration was a fantastic morning filled with fun, laughter, and hands-on learning as we celebrated the importance of play. Students enjoyed exploring a variety of engaging activities that encouraged creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and imagination. From outdoor challenges to creative experiences with our wonderful teachers, seniors and community partners, there was excitement around every corner. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as students learned, played, and grew together in a vibrant and joyful environment. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all staff, senior helpers, families, and community organisations who helped make the day such a special success.
