Iron Horse Appaloosa Stud is set in a pretty valley of 120acres on the outskirts of Nelligen NSW. We are passionate about the Appaloosa breed at Ironhorse and aim to, and have been successful in breeding modern type Appaloosa stock from Appaloosa X Appaloosa breeding's. We aim to maintain the integrity of the breed, enhancing bloodlines and producing quality, 6 panel negative foals that speak for themselves. Our yearly foal crops tick all the boxes and sell fast! A Black/ brown filly with 4 white socks and a star, an image of her dam. Carrieโ€™s Lp so will colour out like her sire. Born approx 230am this morning on the first day of spring!

A text book birth, Bill held the fort last night and for a while there we thought we might have had two births but Delilah is still holding on.

Everyoneโ€™s back home now and was eager to meet the new addition. A big thank you to everyoneโ€™s prayers and messages. Itโ€™s been a tough few days but so worth the effort and hard work when your greeted in the stables by this little cutie.

Foal watching ๐Ÿดโค๏ธ sounds romantic but after 5 days and mainly nights of foal alarms and up to make sure when the cameras canโ€™t see behind a pole it takes its toll.
Even harder when you break your arm and realise it wonโ€™t be me pulling this foal out if needs be.

Our 2026 line up at Ironhorse is an exciting one! 12 foals we are anticipating this season, we have had a few mares unfortunately slip their foals this year, praying for healthy mares, foals and deliveries.

Our first mare due this season is due any day now and our last mare mid November. โ€˜Itโ€™s the most wonderful time of the yearโ€™ ๐ŸŽถ at Ironhorse! Smart Foal is fired up, our go to foaling kit all stocked up, coffee cups ready and the foal watch chairs are in place..

Well itโ€™s getting close now. Just put the smartfoal alarm on Delilah.
I still think at least a week away but you never know. This is a first time cross with Smokin Aces so Iโ€™m excited.
Iโ€™ve got 2 of my cameras working and hopefully all by the weekend.

If anyone is interested, Rosie (Ironhorse Uptown Girl )who we sold not long ago had a lovely coloured filly early this morning. Congratulations to her new owners.

Well itโ€™s almost foaling time.

Weโ€™ve had hardly any feed in the paddock but at the moment itโ€™s raining๐Ÿ™Œ
Delilah will be our first mare to foal and sheโ€™s pretty close.
Going into the foaling yards this week for monitoring.
Itโ€™s too cold here in early august for new born foals so we try to foal them out at the end of August
