Melbourne has long been perceived as a hub where global innovation quietly unfolds. From the Maton guitar to Blackmagic cameras, the Malvern Star bicycle, the first drill ,black box recorders for aircraft’s , polymer banknotes, IVF breakthroughs, and even the first McCafé, Melbourne has consistently played a pivotal role in shaping global culture. However, three significant inventions did not originate from Melbourne but rather from further north, (notably not Brisbane). It was Sydney that invented the renowned coffee machine, Breville in the 1920s , the rode microphone, and most notably, the Fairlight CMI, an innovation that revolutionized music forever.
