Tonight we joined NSWFR in a combined training, centered around structural fire fighting and awareness of water mains pressure in our area. The exchange of information across the two services will serve us well when working together in the future.

The Brassknocker fire is being controlled by RFS, NPWS and Forestry all working together and putting in some long hard days to make sure it stays that way. Today it was Narooma’s turn to lend a hand.

18:30 update.
Despite some extreme fire behaviour during the afternoon of the 10th, we appear to have ridden the storm out without any impact on private property and with no reports of injuries.

The fire has extended from 230 ha at 12:30 to now being over 1,800 ha, and while it has passed our preferred containment options, it remains within identified fallback lines.

We are now in the process of fine-tuning plans based on the fire footprint we are dealing with. We will be out on the ground and in the air in full force over the coming days to take advantage of more favourable conditions.

It is important to acknowledge that, although we have come through this together without physical injury, it has undoubtedly been a traumatic experience for many. Please check in with others and seek support where needed.

08:30 update on the Brassknocker fire.

The fire has grown slightly overnight but remains within our established control lines. Aircraft are operating today and will continue working to limit any further spread.

As part of our normal preparedness activities, additional firefighting resources are being deployed to surrounding areas to support our local crews. This is a precautionary step and is intended to provide added reassurance to the community.

Residents may notice these crews moving through the area, becoming familiar with local conditions and speaking with residents. Their presence is part of our planning and preparedness and should not be a cause for concern.

Advice: Brassknocker Firetrail Fire, Yowrie (Eurobodalla LGA)

Firefighters, supported by aircraft and heavy machinery are continuing to strengthen containment lines around the Brassknocker Firetrail Fire, which is burning within the Wadbilliga National Park, approximately 20 km north-west of Cobargo.

The fire continues to burn in remote terrain and is listed as Being Controlled. While the fire activity is subdued at the moment, it is likely to increase throughout the day, with smoke visible in surrounding areas, but there are currently no properties under threat.
