Last Friday two of our members, assisted by two of our cadets, were invited to Naracoorte High School to talk with the Year 8 students about serving the community through volunteering.

After a presentation with Q+A, the students got a tour of 34P and a command vehicle complete with trying on the BA (breathing air) sets and "cleaning" some teachers' cars with the fire hoses.

No joke… even if it is April Fools 😄

The Naracoorte CFS Brigade Easter Egg Throw is happening TODAY!

📍 Starting from 6:30pm
⏰ All done by 8:00pm

Keep an eye (and an ear 👀👂) out for our crews as we make our way around town spreading a bit of Easter cheer!

Make sure the kids are ready… you never know when the eggs might fly! 🍫🥚

In addition to our previous post including where we will drive - We will visit Repeater Station Road, Jim Kelly Road and Young Drive.

The Naracoorte CFS Brigade Easter Egg Throw is BACK for 2026! 🚒💨
On Wednesday, April 1st, from 6:30 PM, our volunteers will be out and about, spreading Easter cheer by tossing delicious chocolate eggs around town! 🍫✨
Keep an eye (and maybe a basket!) out for our trucks as we make our way through the streets. Let’s make it a night of fun, surprises, and sweet treats!

🙏 Thank You, Naracoorte 🙏

Thank you to our community for taking the forecast seriously and preparing your homes and properties. The immediate threat has now passed, and we’re grateful that conditions were less severe than predicted.

The Naracoorte CFS Brigade responded to 4 calls for assistance Saturday, with help being provided by the Hynam CFS who also attended to tree's down yesterday.

We understand that weather systems can change quickly. As an emergency service, we can only act on the information and forecasts available to us at the time. Our role is to support preparedness and community safety predictions, and we appreciate the understanding shown over the past few days.

If you have unused sandbags, please ensure they are disposed of appropriately. Sand can be spread on lawns or gardens if suitable, and empty bags should be placed in general waste unless otherwise advised.

Thank you again for stepping up and looking out for one another.

💪 1,000 Sandbags in Under 24 Hours 💪

In less than 24 hours, 1,000 sandbags have been filled — a clear sign that Naracoorte is preparing.

The sandbag collection point on Langkoop Road, opposite the Blackwell Road intersection (left-hand side) remains available, with bags and shovels provided. Community members are asked to continue to be mindful of the number of sandbags collected so everyone has the opportunity to prepare.

The forecast conditions may or may not eventuate, but what matters is that our community is taking the time to prepare just in case. A huge thank you to everyone who has come out, filled bags, and taken steps to protect their homes and properties.

Prepared communities are resilient communities. Thank you for doing your part and looking out for one another.

The Bureau of Meteorology just updated a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL
Lower South East and parts of Upper South East districts.

Issued at 10:26 am CDT on Saturday 28 February 2026

Slow moving, heavy thunderstorms are occurring over the over the Lower South East this morning.

Weather Situation: A very humid airmass is in place near a stationary trough located over the far southeast of SA. Slow moving lines of thunderstorms developing in this environment will be capable of producing heavy rainfall.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Mount Gambier, Naracoorte, Robe, Millicent and Lucindale.

Naracoorte recorded 28.2mm in the 2 hours to 10:15am.

* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.

* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.

As you may be aware, there is a chance of significant rainfall over the coming days.

Thank you for your patience while we organised a location for sandbag collection.

Sandbags and shovels are available on site. Please note, you will need to fill the bags you require yourself. This location will be available for the duration of the predicted weather event.

FLOODING CONTINUING IN PARTS OF NORTH-EASTERN AND CENTRAL CATCHMENTS

FURTHER FLOODING EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS OVER THE MID NORTH, NORTH WEST PASTORAL AND SOUTH EAST DISTRICTS AND MOUNT LOFTY RANGES

A slow moving low pressure system over southern Northern Territory extending a trough into the northeast of Southern Australia is forecast to continue producing widespread moderate to heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area over the next few days, with locally intense falls possible.

The highest rainfall totals are forecast over the North East Pastoral district during Thursday, however rainfall is forecast to extend southwards from Friday and over the weekend. Accumulated rainfall totals will be significant.

River and creek level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are occurring across parts of the Flood Watch area and are likely to become more extensive, affecting larger parts of the Flood Watch area. Many bitumen and dirt outback roads are currently impacted by flooding, resulting in the isolation of some communities. The majority of major roads in the region are closed. Check road conditions before travelling. The east-west railway line is closed to the north-west of Port Augusta.

Flood Watches are current for parts of the Eastern, Central and Western inland areas of the Northern Territory and far north west of New South Wales. A Severe Weather Warning is current for heavy to locally intense rainfall in parts of the North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.
