Gallery Event ~ Come in this Sunday 30 nov for NairneAlive 175! The barn at Mulberry Mill Arts &Memorabilia will be open from 10 to 3, showcasing an interesting selection of artworks created by Nairne and hills artists.

About the barn......
It was built in 1847 as part of Johnson's Mill, the first mill in the township of Nairne. In 1864 the much larger Albert Mill was constructed nearby. Johnson's mill was later closed and converted into a residence.
The barn is the oldest surviving industrial building in Nairne. It is an outstanding example of a mid- 19th-century building which demonstrates a range of typical local design and construction techniques of the period, including pioneer stonework and the use of timber shingles for roofing and timber lintels.
Over the years the barn has been used for many purposes, and often as a community meeting place for many of the locals. Most recently it has been used as a luthier's workshop, a sculptor's studio, an exhibition space, and currently it is used as a workshop space for clay classes with local artist Sophie Langley and silk painting with Bev Bonython.

The Barn at Mulberry Mill Arts and Memorabilia will be open as part of the Nairne Alive 175 celebrations on Sunday 30th November 2014.
A variety of local artists will be exhibiting their work, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, felt work, words, photography and silk.
If you like beautiful things, come and enjoy some local creativity and meet the artists.
