Alpine Health is a Multi-Purpose Service with sites in Bright, Mt Beauty and Myrtleford.

Services include Urgent Care (24x7), Hospital, Home & Community Care, Residential Aged Care, and Health Promotion services. URGENT CARE SERVICES
• In an Emergency call 000.
• Urgent Care Centres operate 24x7 at Myrtleford, Bright and Mt Beauty Hospitals located in the Alpine Valleys of North East Victoria.
• This service is led by a clinical team of highly skilled nurses, with private practice o

n-call doctors and other emergency service supports.
• We encourage all community members and visitors to seek non-urgent medical advice during business hours from their usual GP.
• All patients attended by a private practice on-call doctor within the Urgent Care Centre will receive an invoice for care from the on call doctor. HOSPITAL SERVICES
Alpine Health provides basic hospital services across our 3 hospital sites:
• Bright District Hospital (9 beds)
• Mount Beauty District Hospital (10 beds)
• Myrtleford District War Memorial Hospital (15 beds)
Inpatient services provide care for;
• Medical, post-surgical inpatients, dialysis and minor, low-risk procedures. Medical Imaging
• A visiting medical imaging service from NHW is available in Bright, Myrtleford
• Medical imaging services are available in Mt Beauty from the Mt Beauty Medical Centre- out of pocket costs may apply

RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE
Residential aged care services are available in each of the 3 major townships in Alpine Shire as follows:
• Bright - Hawthorn Village - 40 room residential aged care hostel facility offering low/high care service.
• Bright - Hawthorn Close – 6 single bedroom independent living units.
• Mt Beauty - Kiewa Valley House - 20 bed ‘high care’ residential facility and community services.
• Myrtleford - Barwidgee Lodge - 28 ‘high care’ residential beds and community services.

This National Reconciliation Week 27 May - 3 June, Alpine Health recognises the importance of listening, learning and walking together toward a more respectful and united future.

The 2026 theme, “All In”, encourages all Australians to take meaningful action for reconciliation — in our workplaces, communities and everyday conversations.

At Alpine Health, we are committed to creating culturally safe, inclusive and respectful environments for First Nations peoples, and to strengthening connections across our Alpine communities.

Alpine Health acknowledges the many Traditional Owners of the Alpine region and their connection to the mountains, rivers, and valleys. We pay our respect to these groups, their history and culture, and their Elders past and present.

Today is National Sorry Day.

We acknowledge the First Nations children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities and culture, and we recognise the ongoing impact this has on Stolen Generations survivors, families and communities.

This year’s theme, From Sorry to Action, reminds us that acknowledging past harm is important — but acting to address it is critical. Sorry signals compassion, action delivers justice.

As a health service, National Sorry Day reminds us of the importance of listening, learning and providing culturally safe, respectful and inclusive care for First Nations peoples. Reconciliation in healthcare means building trust, strengthening relationships, and helping ensure everyone feels safe, respected and supported when accessing care.

Today, we reflect on the past and recommit to contributing to healing, understanding and equity for First Nations peoples.

Mabuhay! ❤️💛💙 What an incredible afternoon celebrating 80 years of Philippines–Australia Friendship at Alpine Health’s Filipino Fiesta! PHAU!

Observed each year on 22 May, Philippines–Australia Friendship Day recognises the long-standing diplomatic, cultural and community ties between the two countries, dating back to 1946.

Staff, families and community members came together to share food, music, culture and connection in a celebration filled with warmth, laughter and community spirit.

The event also recognised the many shared values between Filipino and Australian communities — family, generosity, resilience, respect and caring for others — reflected through the spirit of “Bayanihan” in the Philippines and “mateship” in Australia.

Thank you to everyone who helped create such a welcoming celebration and to the Filipino community for the ongoing contribution you make to Alpine Health and our region every day.

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟱𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 💙

This National Volunteer Week, Alpine Health proudly recognises Sue Nicoll for more than five decades of volunteering and community service across our region.

A passionate community advocate and long-time Whorouly resident, Sue continues to volunteer at Barwidgee Lodge - Residential Aged Care, where she supports residents through companionship and volunteering her time as a hairdresser. She is also a founding member of the Aged Care Visitor Scheme Volunteer program through The Centre in Wangaratta and remains an active volunteer today.

Over the years, Sue has supported many local committees and community groups, always focused on helping people stay connected and supported within their community.

“I really enjoy seeing the residents’ faces at the window when I arrive,” Sue said.
“I love being able to connect with them and share stories about what’s happening in the community we live in. I get so much out of volunteering myself.”

Sue’s story is one example of the incredible contribution volunteers make every day across our Alpine communities. Thank you Sue — and thank you to all of our volunteers.

Alpine Health will continue delivering key allied health programs for our community, including the PACE Program, Diabetes Education and Dietitian services.

While recent Murray PHN funding applications beyond 30 June 2026 were unsuccessful, Alpine Health has committed to funding these programs to ensure there is no disruption to care.

These services help people across the Alpine Shire stay well, manage chronic conditions and access support close to home.

“We know how important these programs are for the people we care for, and we are committed to making sure they continue,” CEO Cameron Butler said.

Today we recognise IDAHOBIT — the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination. It’s a day to celebrate how far we’ve come, and to acknowledge there is still more to do.

In Australia, many LGBTQIA+ people continue to face discrimination — including 2 in 3 experiencing verbal abuse in the past year. That’s not okay.

At Alpine Health, we’re committed to creating a place where everyone feels safe, respected and able to be themselves. Inclusion isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we build every day.
