Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary

Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary Historic Wildlife Sanctuary located at 47 Stock Road, Mylor, in the beautiful Adelaide Hills of SA Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary is a national treasure.

It was founded in 1969 by Dr John Wamsley and his wife Proo. The Sanctuary is home to platypus, koalas, wallabies, bandicoots... It is testament to what can be achieved by passionate members of the public. The fox, cat, and rabbit proof fence around the Sanctuary was revolutionary when first erected. Today it stands as proof that Australian native animals flourish when introduced predators are removed from their environment. On January 6 2017, Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary was purchased by Narelle MacPherson and David Cobbold. They consider themselves custodians of a legacy, and aim to restore the Sanctuary for the benefit of animals and humans alike. PAGE RULES:

🦆🎶 Have you ever heard a duck whistle?
Meet our Whistling Ducks, one of the most unique members of the Warrawong family!
Unlike most ducks, these beauties don’t quack… they whistle! 🎵 Their distinctive calls can be heard echoing around the wetlands, making them a pretty special part of life at the Sanctuary.
And they’re not just gorgeous. Whistling Ducks are wonderfully social birds, often found hanging out together around the water and grazing on grasses and plants.
So next time you visit Warrawong, keep your ears open… 👂

🪿💚 When waddling just isn’t fast enough…
Our gorgeous Cape Barren goslings are getting bigger every day and discovering the joys of exploring the Sanctuary.
Although one little adventurer decided that walking down the hill was far too ordinary… so he simply rolled down instead! 🥰
A quick tumble, a little fluff shake and off he went again like nothing happened.

Ragnar, magnificent, powerful and absolutely unforgettable! 🦅
There’s something pretty special about standing near a Wedge-tailed Eagle, and Ragnar is no exception. ❤️
With his enormous wingspan, incredible strength and those piercing eyes, Ragnar is a true Aussie icon.
Wedge-tailed Eagles are Australia’s largest bird of prey, built for soaring effortlessly across huge distances.
