On Wednesday 10 June, our Stage 3 students had the incredible opportunity to visit the Sydney Opera House to experience Bangarra Dance Theatre’s powerful performance, Sheltering. This moving triple-bill, featuring Keeping Grounded, Brown Boys, and Sheoak, celebrates First Nations culture and explores the deep connections between people, land, and the stories passed down through generations.

The students were captivated by the rich storytelling through dance and film, and gained valuable insight into Indigenous perspectives on identity, resilience, and connection to Country. They also enjoyed the excitement of exploring the iconic Opera House and taking in the stunning views of the Harbour Bridge.

We are so proud of our students for their respectful attention during the performance and their thoughtful engagement in the Q&A session with the artists afterwards. What a memorable cultural experience and a wonderful example of learning brought to life!

UHPSSA Boys Touch Football
On Friday, 5 June, ten Stage 3 boys travelled to Civic Park in Singleton to compete in the Upper Hunter PSSA Touch Football Knockout Gala Day.
Our first match was against Muswellbrook Public School, a strong opponent who defeated us 10–0. While this result ended our knockout campaign, the team still had the opportunity to play two additional games during the day.
The boys responded positively in their next match against Aberdeen Public School. An excellent start and some early tries gave our team a strong advantage. Aberdeen fought back late in the game, resulting in an exciting 6–6 draw.
In the final match of the day, the boys faced Denman Public School. Once again, the team started strongly, scoring a couple of early tries. It was a challenging and tiring game for both sides, with plenty of substitutions required throughout the match. The boys showed great determination in defence and held on to secure a narrow 6–5 victory.
Throughout the day, the team displayed outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience. They represented our school with pride and should be congratulated on their efforts both on and off the field.
I was super proud of the boys efforts.
