1 June is Smoke Alarm Action Day (SAAD), marking the start of winter — the time of year when house fires are most common across Australia.

🧯Check the date — smoke alarms expire 10 years from manufacture
Clean it — gently vacuum around the vents to remove dust
🧯Review your escape plan — make sure everyone knows two ways out and your safe meeting place outside
