A lot of pickleball players want their courts built regardless whether it will bring huge impact to the neighborhood and the environment and the nature. If they got their 12+ pickleball courts built in Cuesta Park & Annex, it will be their win at the expense of others and the nature and the wildlife.
Check out what they are calling for action to their members here: https://mailchi.mp/dd7f65f8af1e/september-event-and-mvpc-board-changes-10289543?e=880662089b and they will show up in large crowd and they even offer pizzas to attract more turnout.
Our bottomline is: we are not against building pickleball courts or playing pickleball, but we are against building pickleball courts at Cuesta Park or Cuesta Park Annex and we are very concerned about the impact to the park, the environment, the plants and wildlife and to our neighborhood.
Actually some pickleballers want to make Cuesta Park a "super center" for pickleballs, they want lights, they want extra space for resting and socializing, they even wants to run pickleball tournaments there. Please, all the neighbors who don't want the city to build 12+ pickleball courts in Cuesta Park & Annex, you need to show up in the community meeting tomorrow at 6:30 pm.
Below are an email from the "Save Cuesta Park" campaign:
The City has announced an additional option they are investigating, which is encouraging. However, they've confirmed to us that paving over Cuesta Park and the Annex remain viable options they'll likely present to City Council.
The pickleball community is mobilizing with a pizza party before the meeting. We need you there tomorrow.
Many community members are parents facing a conflict - the School District's Back to School night is at the same time. If you've been on the fence about attending, please consider joining us to represent those parents who want to be there but can't. Even a brief visit between 630-730pm to fill out a comment card will make a difference.
