๐Ÿ”ช Carrying a Knife? It's Not Worth the Risk.

Police regularly see the consequences of people carrying knives in public. Many carry them thinking it's for protection, but all too often they end up causing more harm than good.

A split-second decision can lead to serious injuries, criminal charges, and consequences that last a lifetime.

Leave the knife at home.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BIKES POLICE SEIZE? ๐Ÿ๏ธ

We often receive questions from the community about what happens to bikes after they are seized by police. While every situation is different, the process usually looks something like this:

๐Ÿ”น Seized and transported to a police station
๐Ÿ”น Ownership checks are conducted to determine whether the bike is stolen and, if so, efforts are made to return it to its rightful owner
๐Ÿ”น Examined for evidence where required
๐Ÿ”น Some insurance companies take possession of recovered bikes and sell them through their own auction processes
๐Ÿ”น Some bikes are sent to police auctions
๐Ÿ”น Some owners choose not to reclaim their bike due to extensive damage
๐Ÿ”น Some bikes are ultimately destroyed

A common question is why some bikes are destroyed when they appear to be in good condition. The reality is that many have significant mechanical, structural or safety-related damage that isn't visible in photos. While they may look fine on the outside, they are often unsafe or uneconomical to repair.

๐Ÿ๏ธ THEY CAUSED ENOUGH NOISE. NOW IT'S OUR TURN. ๐Ÿ๏ธ

The sound of illegal bikes tearing through our streets is loud.

The sound of them being crushed? Even better.

These bikes have been seized and sent to the crusher, ensuring they won't be tearing through our parks, reserves and streets again.

Every bike crushed is a reminder that illegal riding has consequences.

To the community, thank you for continuing to report illegal trail bikes, mopeds and unregistered motorcycles. Your information helps us identify offenders and take action.

Off the Streets, But the Conversation Continues ๐Ÿค

These bikes have been seized by Mt Druitt Police.

While proactive policing continues, long-term change comes from something bigger than enforcement alone.

Parents, riders, families, schools and the community all have a role to play.

What do you think is the best way to reduce dangerous riding and illegal bikes in our area?
