Late last Sunday, crews were deployed as part of a cascading strike team to assist with operations at the Deep Creek fires. Throughout the week, additional members continued to deploy, supporting ongoing firefighting and recovery efforts.

With the fire now contained, we’d like to recognise the dedication of our members who were on the ground, as well as those who remained available locally to support our community. The effort and teamwork shown has been something to be proud of.

A sincere thank you also goes to the families and employers who supported our members during this time. That backing makes a real difference and doesn’t go unnoticed.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area, as road closures are in place to allow emergency services to operate safely.

What a week!! Last Sunday we responded to a grass fire at Nangkita. First-arriving crews were confronted with a number of rapidly moving fires that put multiple houses and properties in danger. The quick actions of firefighters and locals with FFU’s saved several properties. The Mount Compass CFS would like to thank all CFS members who came not only from our group but also from other groups around South Australia. Your dedication 24 hours a day for the past week has been amazing. To the farmers with FFU, we couldn't have done this without you and we appreciate that we can work together. Thank you to the Sports and Social Club for opening up their facilities along with the school and for all the wonderful groups that provided food and service throughtout this time. Businesses in Mount Compass have been fantastic and very generous, which shows how great our community is. To the locals and the general public, we thank you for your support; it's why we volunteer. A massive thank you from the Mount Compass CFS Brigade.
