πŸŽ„ December has already been a huge month for the Mount Barker Sub Centre!

We kicked things off by celebrating a year of hard work at our Christmas Dinner. The amazing food served by the MBCC P&C was thoroughly enjoyed by our vollies, partners, and special guests.

We also took the opportunity to formally acknowledge the dedication of several team members:
🌟 Sue Slade – awarded a commendation
πŸŽ‰ Deb Smith – celebrating 5 years of service
πŸ™Œ Robert Stain – celebrating 3 years of service

Thank you all for your continued commitment to our community β€” we appreciate you! πŸ’š

We then joined forces with Albany St John to take part in the Albany Christmas Pageant. What an incredible turnout from parade entries and spectators! A special shout-out to Kura for jumping in and adding to the fun.

Mount Barker has also wrapped up its final training session for the year, along with our last Committee meeting for 2025.

Here’s hoping Santa brings something nice to all our dedicated volunteers this Christmas! πŸŽ…βœ¨

πŸš—πŸ’š Leavers Alive – Mount Barker πŸ’šπŸš—

The rain held off just long enough for today’s Leavers Alive event at Mount Barker Community College β€” and what an awesome turnout! πŸ™Œ

Students got a real-life look at what happens at a serious crash scene involving an E-scooter and a car, and the important work our local emergency services do every day.

A big shout-out to our mates at WA Police Mount Barker and Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA Mount Barker for teaming up with our St John WA volunteers, from Mount Barker and Kendenup, to make this such a powerful and eye-opening experience for the students. πŸ‘

Thank you also to Mount Barker Community College staff and students for welcoming us and getting involved β€” together we’re helping young people make safer choices on our roads. πŸš‘πŸš“πŸš’

🚨 Community Safety Simulation – Mount Barker Community College 🚨

Tomorrow afternoon (21/10/25), St John WA Mount Barker, together with WA Police (Mount Barker) and Mount Barker DFES, will be participating in a Simulation Exercise (SimEx) at Mount Barker Community College.

This exercise aims to educate high school students about the importance of making safe decisions when driving or travelling as a passenger, and to highlight the real-life consequences that can arise from poor choices on our roads.

Throughout the afternoon, students will witness a realistic emergency response scenario demonstrating how local emergency services work together at the scene of a serious crash. The experience provides valuable insight into the roles of first responders and reinforces key road-safety messages for young drivers and passengers alike.

Community members are advised not to be alarmed if they see emergency vehicles, lights, or hear sirens in the area during this time β€” it is part of a planned training and educational exercise only.

We thank Mount Barker Community College, WA Police, and DFES for their collaboration in helping to keep our community safe through education and awareness.
