This morning Mt Barker CFS along side our brothers and sister from South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service Mt Barker and Mount Barker State Emergency Service attended the dawn service in Mt Barker to pay our respect to the fallen for their sacrifice and to current and former serving memebers of the Australian Defence forces.

Senior Firefighter Damien Pugsley and Firefighter Shaun Pugsley laid a wreath on behalf of our brigade.

"At he going down of the sun
And in the morning"

We will remember them

Heysen Group QRV has moved in πŸš’πŸ  Tonight we recieved delivery of the new Heysen Group QRV, to be housed in Mt Barker Station. A great resource which will enhance the whole groups capabilities, enabling us to further serve the community.

The new QRV is based on a Toyota Landcruiser chassis, is 4x4 and carries 550 litres of water.

Our trucks are reunited πŸš’πŸ’•πŸš’ After spending time carrying around the interstate legends from NSW Rural Fire Service & NSW Forestry Corporation at the Deep Creek Fire, Barker 34 is now home back in station.

Thanks again so much to the crew that not only came over to help, but also looked after 34 as if it was their own. We appreciate you!

It’s not very often that we find ourselves fighting a rapidly escalating fire and undertaking asset protection at 2am in the morning πŸš’πŸ‘ Both our trucks spent this morning at the Macclesfield Fire, and what a mammoth team effort it was from everyone involved!

Sorry to the residents who we may of startled as we were quickly door knocking to let you know about the approaching fire. You all then jumped straight into action and we couldn’t ask for anything more than how proactive and receptive you were 🀝

Early this morning our crews were responded to 2 seperate incidents within minutes of each other, with each of our trucks going to their respective seperate jobs. 2 motor vehicle accidents, one which had started a fire πŸš’πŸš’

One of the MVA’s fortunately didn’t require much assistance and our truck was released quite quickly to go and join our other truck. On arrival to the second incident alongside Echunga CFS, crews found a fully involved car fire surrounded by large round bales of hay all well alight. The incident was quickly escalated to bring in extra resources so crews in BA could rapidly get into the bales and extinguish the fire. In a great effort by all, crews managed to seperate and save some of the bales while also preventing the spread of fire to the surrounding grass & paddock, and nearby structure.

A massive thanks to Echunga CFS, Mount Barker South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service, Littlehampton CFS, Macclesfield Country Fire Service, SA Ambulance Service, & South Australia Police for their assistance. An awesome team effort 🫑
