🚨 Join Woodford Emergency Services Cadets! 🚨

Looking to build confidence, leadership and teamwork skills while learning about emergency services?

Woodford ESC runs every Monday during the school term at the Woodford Fire Station and gives young people the chance to take part in hands-on activities, develop practical life skills, and learn from emergency services personnel.

We are also currently looking for adult volunteers to help support and mentor our cadets throughout the program.

Out to our property owners, if you have a permit to burn, 🔥 please do not burn during the strong wind warning; there's a good chance you will lose control of it, and you will be breaching your permit. Our 2 fire wardens usually include on the permit 'do not exceed 15kph'; at the moment, the wind is gusting at 35kph. Have a great day, Tyson, First Officer Villeneuve, Rural Fire Brigade.

Tonight’s Quarterly General Meeting was a special one, celebrating some of our Volunteer’s milestones 🎉🎊

Crew Leader Scott and Life Member Leonie were presented with their National Medals.
- Between these two volunteers combined, equates to over 43 years volunteer service to the local community!

Volunteers Kerry and Angela successfully completed their FMS training and were Awarded the rank of Firefighter.

A special shoutout goes to our other volunteers not mentioned, who also received certificates.

Council will discontinue its subscription to the Early Warning Network (EWN) on 31 August 2026, and encourages Somerset residents to download and subscribe to the Bureau of Meteorology’s (BoM) new national warning service.

The BoM Weather App offers:
▶️ real-time, location-based push notifications
▶️ option to receive alerts for up to three locations
▶️ warnings for floods, fires, tropical cyclones, severe thunderstorms and other weather events

The BoM Weather App is a FREE service, whereas EWN comes at a significant cost to Council and therefore the ratepayer.

Hi all,
There will be a Hazard Reduction Burn today at a Property along Neurum Rd Mount Archer 4514.

Conducted by a private landholder with a fire permit of approximately 6.5 hectares (16ac).

Hazard Reduction Burning is a great way to rejuvenate the land, remove w**d types and excess vegetation. If you would like to know more about Burning on your property or how to get a permit feel free to message us.....

Careless battery disposal can cause waste fires 🚒

Council’s waste contractor had to make a pit stop near Twin Bridges, Fernvale this morning to dump a burning load of waste caused by a battery fire.
QFES was on site to support the garbage truck drivers in putting out the fire.

⚠️ Residents are reminded to not dispose of batteries in kerbside collection bins.
Instead, they can be disposed at one of Council’s refuse and recycling centres in Esk, Coominya, Harlin or Kilcoy.
