Spring is here, and our Bushcare volunteers are getting stuck in across the Shire this September. There’s plenty to do, and the more hands, the better! 🌱

Whether you're a regular green thumb or have never joined a Bushcare Working Bee before, everyone is welcome.

📅 September Bushcare opportunities include:
10 Sept – Mt Gibraltar, Bowral
12 Sept – Council Nursery, Moss Vale
21 Sept – Berrima Weir

So far this year, the Bushland Team, volunteers and community members have delivered 26 volunteer sessions, supported 42 reserves, targeted 72 w**d species and established 7,615 native plantings across Council reserves. 🌿

These are the collective efforts of everyone involved in protecting, restoring and enhancing the Shire’s natural environment - with plenty more restoration works, volunteer activities and community initiatives planned for the rest of 2026.

You told us, we’ve been working on it. 🛠️

In last year’s Annual Community Sentiment Survey, 61% of respondents identified roads and potholes as a priority for improvement.

Roads are a major focus for Council, with crews repairing more than 9,100 potholes between July 2025 and June 2026, alongside ongoing road maintenance and renewal works across the Shire.

Roads and potholes are just one example of the issues raised through last year’s survey.

Now we want to know: how do you think we’re doing?

The Annual is Council’s yearly check-in with the community. Your feedback helps us understand what’s working, where progress is being made and where there is still more work to do.

🗣️ The Annual is open to everyone until 30 September and takes less than two minutes for most people to complete.

👉 Have your say: https://participatewingecarribee.wsc.nsw.gov.au/annual-community-sentiment-survey

A note on comments: Comments are turned off on this post because social media comments can’t be counted as part of The Annual. The best way to have your say is to complete the survey.

The walkway outside Bowral Central Library has been transformed into a vibrant outdoor gallery, bringing local art into an everyday community space.

The Bowral Library Outdoor Gallery is the first project delivered through Council’s new Art in Unexpected Places program, an action from the Creative Highlands Arts and Culture Plan 2025–2029.

The program reimagines public spaces to bring creativity into everyday life, while supporting local artists and making art accessible for everyone to enjoy.

The first exhibition features the work of Southern Highlands sculptor Lucinda McDonald, followed by Lily Cummins from October to December.

👀 Next time you’re at the library, take a moment to stop and explore the gallery.

🌿Expressions of Interest open for sustainability workshop providers 👩🏻‍♻

We're looking for passionate educators, facilitators and organisations to help turn practical ideas into action.

Expressions of Interest are now open for providers to deliver waste reduction, reuse and sustainability workshops for our community.

From composting and worm farming to textile repair, upcycling, bike and household-item repairs, and waste-to-art, the workshops will help residents, schools, community groups and local businesses build practical skills to reduce waste and extend the life of everyday products.

Successful providers will be added to a preferred panel and engaged as programs are needed, with workshops primarily delivered from our new Education Hub at the Upcycle Centre in Moss Vale.

If you have the skills, experience and ideas to inspire practical change, we’d love to hear from you.

Expressions of Interest close Tuesday 15 September 2026 at 3pm.
