Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

The library has been restocked with a range of books including some colouring in books, and some beautiful colouring in sheets.

Come and visit and see if you can find the book which is just right for you.

We have picture books, graphic novels, choose your own adventure stories, chapter books and longer novels.

Remember: take a book, leave a book, share a book.

If you don’t have a book to swap out, that’s okay. And if you love the book, feel free to keep it, or pass it on. 😁

Hi all. It’s been a while as I’ve been quite unwell. However, today I help to swap out books and restock the library.

Come and visit and see if you can find a spooky, creepy, weird, or adventurous tale just right for you. And I’ve thrown some other stories for a bit of variety.

We have picture books, graphic novels, choose your own adventure stories, chapter books and longer novels.

Sorry all for the long silence. I’ve been really unwell all year, and am still very unwell.

I do swap out books occasionally, but don’t get to updating the page.

Please feel free to visit and swap books.

And there’s two bags of kids books on the library too. Feel free to pop past and have a browse. 😁

Thanks for your continued support.

Every child is a reader. They need to find out what they like.

Every child is a reader. They need to find out what they like.

I strongly believe every child is a reader - but finding their 'reader identity' can take a little time and encouragement.
As I share in this guest post by Lana Hallowes:

"There is a way into reading for us all - some children may read by ear (audio books) and engage with story in this way, some children may exclusively read graphic novels and some may devour the classics, or every new book which enters the library. Just like we all develop our own style with clothes, we can develop our own identity as a reader, but every child deserves to see themselves as a reader."
Here are some of my other thoughts on school libraries and the important role of teacher librarians, that I really wished parents of school kids would know. http://ow.ly/SiAD50FzBpv

Hi everyone.

This year I’ve been really sick. Sorry the page has been so quiet. This week I’m going to try to swap books around so the library will have new books.

Feel free to pop past and visit. Helpful while the libraries are closed. I’ll even pop in some colouring books.

The library is on my front porch.

With deep sadness we feel the loss of the much-loved Eric Carle, author and illustrator of many classics, including the wonderful The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I loved that book as a kid.

An literary icon and legend who will be missed.

From the Eric Carle Team: It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on Sunday, May 23rd at the age of 91.

When asked why he thinks The Very Hungry Caterpillar has remained popular for so long, Carle said, “I think it is a book of hope. Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent.”

Thank you, Eric Carle for sharing your great talent with so many generations of young readers.

If I ever hear a boy say, ‘I can’t read that because it’s a girly book,’ I always ask, what’s a girly book?

Then they can’t tell me, except it had girls in it. And some girls won’t read books aimed at boys.

I always say to them that books are books. They have adventure, fantasy, science fiction, humour etc. You can read whatever you like.

What books do you like?

Check out this great article about this great gender divide and where it comes from, from author Shannon Hale.
