💡 😃 There were big ideas and great conversations at the Youth Committee meeting last month. We had 23 members from all five local high schools attend 👏
The committee meets each month to share what's happening in their schools, develop community projects, build leadership skills and connect with guest speakers.
This month, members explored:
⭐ What motivates young people to volunteer, with many saying they want to support causes that align with their values (and yes, hot chips were mentioned as a pretty good incentive!)
🏳️🌈 Ways local young people in the LGBTQIA+ community can feel more supported and connected, with special guest Hank from headspace Batemans Bay.
✨ Planning for the Winter SOULstice event on Friday 26 June - an evening of connection around mental health and lighting up the darkest time of the year.
🏫 Designing the perfect school, with ideas ranging from wave pools and flexible uniforms to breakfast clubs, learning how to do taxes, and choosing electives earlier.
