It seems having warnings up and constantly telling people that ward 21/22 are full of asbestos is not sinking in… i do not want to be responsible for people who think they are infallible to the danger of asbestos. It seems this page is just feeding peoples interest in going there, So i am pulling it. I'd like to thank Ross and all of the other people who have added great pictures to this historical page. I'll say it again. If you go there, you are risking a certain death sentence if you inhale the fibres. I can tell you its a horrible way to go, and can appear in a few years up to 40 years down the track. It changes your DNA so you are prone to cancers as well as asbestosis which is non treatable… thanks to everyone for taking an interest. keep safe. Cheers Chris Halling.

I WILL BE CLOSING DOWN THIS PAGE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. PEOPLE ARE NOT READING THGE WARNINGS ABOUT THE ASBESTOS IN THE COMPOUND. I SET THIS PAGE UP AS A HISTORICAL PAGE TO GATHER OLD PHOTOS AND STORIES ON THE PLACE. I DID'NT WANT PEOPLE GOING THERE UNPROTECTED AND BREATH IN THE DEADLY DUST . I HAVE WARNED PEOPLE ON OCCASIONS ABOUT ASBESTOS BEING THERE, BUT IT SEEMS PEOPLE ARE NOT READING THE POSTS. I DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PEOPLE NOT BEING CAREFUL, SO I WILL TAKE DOWN THIS PAGE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER PEOPLE HAVE HAD A CHANCE TO READ THIS MESSAGE... WARNING ASBESTOS KILLS !!! AND WARDS 21 AND 22 ARE FULL OF IT. THERE ARE SIGNS OUTSIDE THE COPLEX AT BOTH ENTRY'S AS WELL TO WARN YOU ABOUT THIS. THOUGH VANDALS DEFACE THEM WITH SPRAY PAINT. Kind Regards, Chris Halling...

Hi guys. great page but it worries me that there is no mention of how dangerous the place is now with the truckloads of ASBESTOS that is just lying around. I just wonder of you might let people know that visiting the place should be an absolute NO NO without wearing appropriate safety gear. I organised for a professional asbestos removal business to meet me there last year and he told me that contracting ASBESTOSIS is a lot easier than most seem to think, and apparently it is a very slow and painful death. Besides the asbestos, the place is literally falling down as Im sure you are aware and to go into what is still standing is extremely dangerous. Just food for thought and Im sorry I really am not meaing to have a go at your guys or anything - Im just concerned that someone will get hurt and since you are promoting the place as such then I cant help feel that you have a responsibility to mention the dangers. I wish you folks all the best.

WARD 21 - Morisset Mental Asylum i have brought that up a fair bit and its a good call Nathan as its everywhere... you not only have the fear of not knowing if or when you'll get ASBESTOSIS. But you could get other cancers as well due to certain fibres getting into your blood through your lungs and changing your DNA... Asbestos masks are $9 for 3 at Bunnings. And fibres can stick to your clothes and shoes... So take extra care !!!
