Hi All
This is Sheila’s husband Steve just letting you all know how she is going post operation and all is good, surgeon is happy with progress and Sheila has come through operation really well, just so lucky! one centimeter either way and things could have ended very differently!
Typically, just like her, I was waiting for her post-recovery and as she is waking up she looks at me and says “ why are you here and not home feeding the animals” this is her an amazing human.
Thank you all for your ongoing support and Manna Gum will be up and running again soon

Sadly we will be offline for a little while. Unfortunately, after a slight altercation with one of our horses, I will be having spinal surgery next week.
I will be unable to take any new wildlife into care for a while, but rest assured, those in care at the moment will be well looked after.
See you all again soon and thank you for your support x

Look at this beautiful little face 🥰
This week we say “adios” to twins Luke and Leia and their buddy Hans. They will be soft-released here though so will most likely come and go from the aviary for a few nights/days, until they get their bearings and confidence. Good luck little ones 😘

The two Pacific Black ducklings affectionately known as Huey and Louey were released a couple of weeks ago. They have settled in well to their new home and are looking very healthy. They’ve both grown so much.

Happy World Wildlife Day!

This adorable little fellow is one of ringtail possum triplets we’ve raised from tiny joeys after they were rescued from their dead mother’s pouch. Their mother was found dead in a rubbish bin. Luckily their rescuer saw her tummy moving and got the little ones out of the pouch and took them straight to a local vet. They’ll now soon be ready to be released ❤️

Thought I would do a quick Tuesday ‘Whip around’ so you can see some of what’s happening around the shelter. There’s descriptions under each of the photos ❤️

Two little ducklings arrived a week or so ago. They were found on their own with no sign of a parent. They will spend some time here until they are ready for release. They are growing so very fast, it may not be too long ...

A few hot days ahead ....

As the weather heats up, wildlife may experience heat stress.

You can help animals suffering from heat stress by offering shade and water. Place shallow bowls of water around your garden and make sure to add some rocks or sticks to allow smaller animals to escape, should they fall in.

Do not approach wildlife and make sure your pets are kept away.

If you come across heat stressed or injured wildlife, you can seek advice or assistance by contacting a local, authorised wildlife shelter or carer: www.wildlife.vic.gov.au/injured-native-wildlife/wildlife-tool or contact Wildlife Victoria on 03 8400 7300.
