For Legislative Council elections, when the outcome cannot be declared on first preference votes, the TEC conducts a distribution of preferences to determine the successful candidate.

In Huon, the provisional distribution of preferences has now commenced. Follow updates here: https://www.tec.tas.gov.au/legislative-council/elections-2026/results/huon/index.html

In Rosevears, the narrow margin between the two lowest-ranked candidates means the distribution of preferences cannot commence until all postal votes are received, after 10 am on Tuesday. For updates, visit https://www.tec.tas.gov.au/legislative-council/elections-2026/results/rosevears/index.html
