Today, our school came together to recognise R U OK? Day and remind ourselves just how important it is to check in with the people around us.

It was wonderful to see so many students and staff wearing yellow and getting involved! Throughout the week, classes have been exploring emotions, discussing what makes a good friend and building their help seeking skills.

At recess and lunch today, our Wellbeing Captains were busy spotting students showing kindness in the playground, inviting others to join their games, checking in on friends and looking out for one another. These students went into the draw for some special R U OK? Day prizes!

A big thank you to our Wellbeing Captains for helping lead the day and encouraging our school community to look out for each other. 💛

Sometimes a simple “Are you OK?” can make a big difference.

Today our Year 3 students participated in a Proactivity Wellbeing Incursion, complementing their Respectful Relationships learning around stress management and help seeking.

Students had a fantastic time getting active with yoga, Zumba, giant soccer and giant basketball! Through movement, games and teamwork, they explored how physical activity can support emotional regulation, resilience and confidence.

There were plenty of smiles, laughs and lots of energy throughout the morning. A fun and active way to build some important skills for our wellbeing toolkit! ✨

One of our Year 3 maths classes had so much fun taking on the LEGO CEO Risk Task! Students had to design their own LEGO structure, identify and label the shapes they used, then bring their plans to life by building their creation.

A fun, hands-on way to put our maths skills to work!

Our Year 5 students arrived home today after an action-packed few days at Phillip Island Camp!

From Churchill Island Heritage Farm and the Penguin Parade to bowling, the Koala Conservation Reserve and A Maze’N Things, there was plenty of fun, learning and adventure along the way.

It sounds like everyone had a fantastic time, made some wonderful memories and may be just a little ready for their own beds tonight!

Well done to our Year 5 campers! Rest up and enjoy a very well-earned relaxing weekend! 💚

On Thursday 10th September, we’ll be recognising R U OK? Day, a day that reminds us how powerful it can be to check in with the people around us and simply ask, “Are you OK?”

We’re encouraging everyone to WEAR YELLOW on the day to help spread the message of kindness, connection and looking out for one another. 💛

Our Wellbeing Captains will also be out and about at recess and lunchtime, keeping an eye out for students showing kindness, including others and checking in on their friends. Students spotted demonstrating these actions will go into the draw to win an R U OK? Day prize! 💛

Sometimes a small act of kindness or a simple conversation can make a big difference.

Thursday 10th September. Wear yellow and help us spread a little extra kindness around Monty South! 💛

Our Father’s Day Stall was a great success today, with lots of excited students choosing something special for the dads, grandads and special people in their lives!

A huge thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends group for organising and running the stall, and to our Year 6 students who volunteered their time to help everything run smoothly.

Well done and thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a success!

We hope all of our Monty South families enjoy some wonderful family time together this weekend. Happy Father’s Day! 🧡
