It’s no secret that farms are incredible places for kids to grow, explore and learn - but they’re also environments where water hazards are a natural part of daily life. From deep dams and creeks to animal drinking troughs and irrigation tanks, water risks are everywhere.

Creating a dedicated, fenced play area close to the house is the best way to build a reliable boundary between your children and the water dangers on your property.

In 2023, Amanpreet’s world was turned upside down when her 3-year-old son, Nihal, tragically drowned after stepping onto an unsecured septic pit lid at a housewarming party on a rural property.

Devastatingly, Nihal’s death was completely preventable and not an isolated incident. To honour her son and make sure no other family has to endure this pain, Amanpreet is bravely sharing her story.

To a curious toddler, a floating toy or debris in a farm dam looks like an adventure waiting to happen 🌾💧

However, natural water sources like dams, creeks and ponds hide unseen dangers. Muddy banks can be incredibly slippery, meaning a child can easily lose their footing and accidentally fall into the water while trying to reach the item that’s caught their eye.

Today, we hold Hunter and his family close to our hearts as we mark the anniversary of his passing 🤍
