πŸŒ±πŸ’š One Green Choice a Day!πŸ’šπŸŒ±

This is an important message from our EcoMarines team!

Did you know that making just one green choice each day can help protect our environment? Small actions add up to make a big difference!

Here are some easy green choices you can make:
♻️ Recycle your paper, plastic and cans.
🌿 Pull out a few weeds from your garden.
🚰 Turn off taps when brushing your teeth or washing your hands.
πŸ₯€ Use reusable drink bottles and lunch containers.
πŸ’‘ Turn off lights when you leave a room.
🌬️ Switch off fans and air conditioners when they're not needed.
🚢 Walk, ride or scoot instead of taking a short car trip.
🌳 Plant a tree, flower or vegetable.
🍎 Choose package-free or waste-free snacks.
πŸ—‘οΈ Pick up litter when you see it.
πŸ“„ Use both sides of your paper before recycling it.

Remember, you don't have to do everything at once. Every positive choice helps create a cleaner, greener future for our community and our planet.

What green choice will you make today? 🌏

🌿🐠 EcoMarine Adventure Day at Green Island!🐒🌊

Today, our EcoMarine students enjoyed an exciting adventure to Green Island, bringing their sustainability learning to life through hands-on experiences in one of Australia's most beautiful natural environments.

Throughout the day, students learned about the Great Barrier Reef, explored ways we can help protect and care for this precious ecosystem, and discovered the importance of sustainability in preserving our natural world for future generations. They also had the opportunity to learn about local marine animals, experience the island's unique environment, and see firsthand why conservation matters.

It was a wonderful day filled with learning, exploration, and plenty of fun as students connected classroom knowledge with real-world environmental stewardship.

A huge thank you to Kassi and the team from EcoMarines Foundation for providing such an engaging and memorable experience for our students. We appreciate all the knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion you shared with us today! πŸ’š

Yesterday, students in Years 5 and 6, alongside more than 65 schools across Queensland, participated in Queensland’s Biggest Classroom, facilitated by the Queensland Virtual Academy.

The lesson featured the honourable John-Paul Langbroek, Minister of Education and the Arts. Throughout the session, students learned about Queensland Day, which will be celebrated on 6 June, and explored some of the many primary industries that contribute to Queensland’s economy and way of life. They were excited to find and locate the different areas in Queensland and what industries and farming are occurring.

Thank you to QVA for the invitation to participate in Queensland’s Biggest Classroom!

πŸŒπŸ’š Turn It Off Monday! πŸ’šπŸŒ

This is an important message from our EcoMarines team!

Today, our EcoMarines want everyone to remember one simple action that can make a big difference:

πŸ’‘ Turn off the lights when you're not using them.
❄️ Turn off the air conditioners when they're no longer needed.
🌬️ Turn off the fans when you leave the room.

Small actions taken by many people can have a huge impact on our environment. By reducing unnecessary energy use, we help conserve resources, lower our environmental footprint, and create a more sustainable future for everyone.

At Mirriwinni State School, we're proud to be learning about sustainability and finding ways to be greener every day. Together, we can help protect our planet for future generations.
