๐Ÿ’™ Shining a Light on Mental Health

You may have noticed Wattle Range Council's Service Centre in Millicent glowing blue at night this week.
The blue illumination recognises mental health and su***de awareness, including World Su***de Prevention Day and RU OK? Day which this year, are both acknowledged on Thursday, 10 September.
Located just metres from where the Millicent Blue Tree once stood, the display continues the message of the Blue Tree Project, which encourages people to start conversations about mental health and reminds us that support is always within reach.
Organised in partnership with the Wattle Range Su***de Prevention Network, the blue lights serve as a visible reminder to check in with those around us, reach out when we need support, and keep conversations going.

๐Ÿ’™ You are not alone.

Beachport dredging to begin

Dredging works at the Beachport Boat Ramp are expected to start from Monday, 31 August 2026. The dredging will be the same program as undertaken in recent years.
Our contractor will move more than 6,000 cubic metres of sand over approximately three weeks, subject to weather and tide conditions.

The dredging aims to restore clear access for small boats and maintain ramp usability through to after Easter 2027.

๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ Overseas outbreaks show us that cats and dogs can be infected with H5 bird flu, but this usually occurs due to contact with sick or dead birds.

There are simple steps owners can take to reduce the risk:
โœ… Place dogs on a lead when out for a walk, especially in wildlife areas
โœ… Prevent cats from roaming (this also keeps our wildlife safe)
โœ…Ensure food and water is out of reach of wild birds.
โœ… Monitor your pet's health and seek veterinary advice if they're unwell
