Multiple crews attended yesterday to bring a long fire front under control. Volunteers from Tarome, Rosevale, Mt Mort, Kalbar Rural Fire Brigade Mount Forbes Rural Fire Brigade
Ripley Valley Rural Fire Brigade
and Warrill View were on scene across the area with many focussed around Mt Mort.
Late in the afternoon SER72 was tasked to the southern sector to deliver extra water. Thanks Mark Meldrum and Trent Moore from our crew who attended, returning to the shed before 9pm.
This fire began on the Mulgowie side of the range from a permit burn and came over into the Bremer Valley side of the range. Cooler conditions will help slow activity in inaccessible areas but there is still active fire and thick smoke may be expected.

We had a fire callout to Geiger Rd yesterday 🤨likely started from a careless campfire.

Big fires always start from small ones!!

🔥Completely extinguishing your little campfire doesn't take much effort but can make all the difference to locals, property and the bush 😇

Trent Moore stepped up to drive the 45 to a call for the first time 😁 good one 😎

Be careful people ... reconsider any work that involves potential for fire. If crews get spread thin across our region there may be a wait for assistance. We can't be everywhere at once.

So take care and be prepared about your property! 🙏 🤞

Wednesday night training had us focussed on a different kind of emergency service 🚑 Russell from Boonah Ambulance came to Milford and gave the crew a proper rundown of the lifesaving equipment on board. Instead of handling pumps and hoses we practiced with stretchers for a patient-lift scenario.

Plenty of good tips, a few new tricks, and a useful reminder that if you're short-handed and in a pinch, another agency could be just around the corner.

Henie, one of our newer recruits, drew the short straw as the patient and has since made a suspiciously rapid recovery. No flowers required 😎

Cheers, Russell, a really good session!

How was your Sunday arvo? 😎Crews from Boonah Group assisted Scenic Rim Regional Council with ongoing w**d control measures at Mt Carmel in Boonah. 🔥 Carefully planned and carried out with great teamwork. Burning the dense grass and tangled dead wood is an important step in the process. Our shiny new big shed has welcomed SER72 💥 parked at our brigade at Milford but ready for deployment across Southeast Region as needed 💦💦💦
This much needed infrastructure is a tremendous asset for our facility and takes us one step closer to having proper clean areas for meetings and training.

Huge amounts of hard work behind the scenes to make this happen - it's not magic - our management committee and volunteers working with Queensland Fire Department are realising a vision. Thank you each and every one 🌟🌟🌟
PS don't get locked in Clinton 😅

🔥 Planned Burn at Boonah Hill Reserve🔥
Sunday afternoon 30 August 2026

As part of SRRC disaster management responsibilities, Allandale RFB will conduct important mitigation work at Mount Carmel this Sunday. See attached map for the planned area.

❗️Smoke signs will be up, and crews and trucks will be working along nearby roads. ❗️Smoke may impact the Boonah-Fassifern Road from Red Bridge Rd to the roundabout area, so go slow.
❗️ Please give volunteer crews and vehicles plenty of room.

❗️It's advisable for householders to shut doors and windows for the duration of the burn as changes in wind could bring smoke your way at any time.

Thanks Boonah - we appreciate your support to get this task done safely!

Looks like Aratula Rural Fire Brigade will be there to help out too! Thanks!
