🚒 𝗔 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄…

It seems we’ve had a mystery trailer appear in our station carpark. While we do love a surprise, our carpark is actually used by brigade members heading to callouts and training - and has the potential to become a hive of activity during major incidents or group training.

So if you’re thinking of parking your trailer (or anything else with wheels!) in our carpark, please know you’re doing so at your own risk. If we get a callout, you might find your pride and joy parked in… by fire trucks, utes, or half the Southern Region! And once we’re rolling, nothing moves until we’re back.

We’d really prefer you park elsewhere - unless of course you’ve donated your trailer to us for training purposes, in which case… thank you for your service. 😄

🌟 In a Cardiac Emergency, You Could Be the Difference 🌟

A cardiac arrest can happen anywhere — at home, at the shops, at sport, or on the street. In those first few minutes, GoodSAM responders can make all the difference. Ambulance Tasmania’s GoodSAM program sends a smartphone alert to nearby responders, allowing them to start hands‑only CPR or collect a publicly accessible AED while ambulance crews are on their way.

If you’re 18 or over and willing to help, you can join this flexible volunteer network. You choose when you’re available — and your actions could save a life.

You can also support the program by ensuring publicly accessible AEDs are registered. Registered AEDs appear in the GoodSAM app for responders and for Ambulance Tasmania’s Triple Zero (000) call takers, who can direct bystanders to the nearest device. If you know the owner of an AED that isn’t registered, please encourage them to add it.

Middleton on the Green 2026 did not disappoint. Our volunteer brigade was flat‑out all day - sausages sizzling, raffle tickets flying, kids unleashing the hose, bushfire safety chats in full swing, and plenty of hands-on CPR/AED action! Huge thanks to everyone who stopped in and brought the vibe. Community spirit like this keeps us fired up! 🫶🏼👩‍🚒👨‍🚒🔥🚒

We'd like to thank the Tasmanian community for their support during the Total Fire Ban in southern Tasmania yesterday.

Community cooperation played an important role in reducing the risk of fires during a period of heightened fire danger.

🔥 During the Total Fire Ban, 23 fires were reported statewide, but were quickly contained with the support of firefighting aircraft and ground crews.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast elevated fire danger weather for the remainder of the week, and as a result, we’ve declared a statewide suspension in the issuing of fire permits from 2am yesterday (4 February), until 2am Saturday, 7 February 2026.

❌ No fire permits will be issued for burns during that period of suspension.

❌ Any fire permits already issued for fires during this period are cancelled, as conditions will be unsafe for burning.

🔥💦 If you have burned in the past week, check that your fire is fully extinguished. Soak it, stir it, soak it again.

👎 Given the likely conditions across much of the state, burns that are under one cubic metre, which do not require a permit, are strongly discouraged.

We're prepared to respond to fires across the landscape, and we encourage every Tasmanian to review their bushfire plan.

📝 If you don’t have a plan, visit fire.tas.gov.au to prepare one to keep you and your loved ones safe.

🔥If you see smoke, flames, or anything that looks like a fire re-igniting, please don’t assume someone else has reported it.

After a review of current and forecast conditions, Tasmania Fire Service has declared statewide suspension of the issuing of fire permits from now until 2am, Saturday 7 February.

This decision has been made to keep the Tasmanian community safe.

A Total Fire Ban is also in place for Southern Region from 2am, today (Wednesday 4 February) until 2am, Thursday 5 February.

During the total fire ban period:

❌ burn-offs
❌ campfires and fire pots
❌ wood-fuelled barbecues

Tasmania Fire Service has suspended the issuing of fire permits statewide as we prepare for high fire danger across the state this weekend.

From 2am today (Friday, 9 January) until 2am Monday 12 January:

‼️ No fire permits will be issued for burns during the period.
❌ Any fire permits already issued for fires during this period are cancelled as conditions will be unsafe for burning.
🔥 If you have burned in the last week, check your fire is fully extinguished.
🔥 Burns under 1 cubic metre which do not require a permit are strongly discouraged.
🔥 Anyone having a campfire and/or wood fire barbecue is urged to never leave it unattended.
‼️ Anyone operating equipment is urged to be vigilant to avoid any activity that may cause accidental ignition of vegetation during this suspension.
