🏆 QUEENSLAND STATE CHAMPIONS | MIAMI RUGBY 7s 🏆

What an outstanding two days at the Santos Q7s State Cup, with our students representing Miami State High School with pride, resilience and an incredible commitment to their teammates.

Our results:

🏆 U14 Boys 1 – STATE CUP CHAMPIONS
Undefeated across all six games!

🏆 U14 Boys 2 – Challenge Champions
🏆 U14 Girls – Challenge Champions
🏆 U18 Girls – Bowl Champions
👏 U16 Girls – Bowl Semi-Finalists

Across the tournament, Miami recorded 14 wins from 24 games, including an incredible Day 2 with nine wins and just one loss in 33-degree heat.

Our U14 Boys 1 were outstanding, finishing undefeated, scoring 209 points and conceding just 34, before defeating King’s Christian College 36–5 in the Cup Final to be crowned Queensland State Champions!

We are also incredibly proud to celebrate two exceptional individual achievements:

⭐ Indiana – Women’s Player of the Tournament
⭐ Mylo – Men’s Player of the Tournament

To have both Players of the Tournament come from Miami is an incredible achievement and a testament to the talent, commitment and character within our Rugby Excellence program.

Our students competed against some of Queensland’s most established school rugby programs and demonstrated that Miami can compete successfully at the highest level.

Beyond the results, we are particularly proud of the way our students supported one another, responded to challenges and represented their school throughout the tournament.

Congratulations to every student who represented Miami with pride, and a huge thank you to our coaches, staff, parents and families for their commitment and support across both days.

🚌 BUS SERVICE CHANGES FROM MONDAY 7 SEPTEMBER

A reminder to Miami SHS students and families that changes to regular TransLink bus services along the Gold Coast Highway will commence from Monday 7 September, following the opening of the G extension to Burleigh Heads.

These changes may affect how students travel to and from school.

Key changes include:
🚌 700 – Will operate between Tweed Heads and Stockland Burleigh Heads only. Transfer to the G at Burleigh Heads for travel further north.

🚌 777 – Will operate between Gold Coast Airport and Stockland Burleigh Heads only.

🚌 754, 760, 764 & 765 – Changes to these services will also commence.

🚌 701 – NEW – New service connecting The Pines, Elanora and Robina station via Varsity Lakes station.

⚠️ Students who use public transport are encouraged to check their journey before Monday, as routes, departure times and connections may have changed.

When using the TransLink Journey Planner, make sure you select Monday 7 September or later to see the new services and timetables.

What an incredible achievement from this talented group of young athletes, who have worked hard, backed each other and represented Miami with pride throughout the competition.

Miami State High School will be closed tomorrow, Friday 4 September 2026, for a Pupil Free Day.

Students are not required to attend school.

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding Semester 1 results achieved by our Years 7–10 students.

Across academic achievement, behaviour and effort, our students have demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and to embodying the Miami values of Respect, Connect and Inspire.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing some of the results that highlight the achievements of our students and demonstrate how they are flourishing at Miami State High School.

Our Years 7 and 8 Languages students recently had the opportunity to showcase their creativity and share their thoughts on "Why languages are worth choosing?"
We received some fantastic entries that demonstrated students' understanding, creativity, and enthusiasm for language learning.

Another incredible achievement for proud Miami State High School alumnus Ben Hance!

The two-time Paralympic champion has claimed gold in the 100m backstroke at the Para Pan Pacs in Walnut, California, continuing his impressive journey towards the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.

It is always special to follow the achievements of our former students, and we are incredibly proud to see Ben continuing to perform at the highest level on the international stage.

Congratulations, Ben! The Miami community is cheering you on all the way to LA! 💙💛
