Mernda CFA

Mernda CFA The Mernda Fire Brigade has been proudly serving the community with dedication and courage since 1973 They have diverse backgrounds, interests and skills.

There are many different types of volunteer roles at CFA
By making a contribution to your community you will make new friends, learn new skills and be part of Victoria's largest volunteer team. CFA Volunteers Make a Difference
Volunteers come from all walks of life. One thing common to them all is their desire to put something back into their community. You don't need experience to join CFA as we

will provide you with all the necessary training. The training is aligned with National Competency Standards so your new skills will be recognised throughout Australia. The job isn't all fighting fires, and there are many support roles that help brigades, and will also help you to build professional skills. The safety of our people is very important to CFA. This means that new volunteer firefighters need to undertake the right training before attending fires, and this can take up to six months. Training is run after hours and on weekends, so that everyone can attend. http://maps.google.com.au/maps/place?hl=en-GB&rlz=1T4GGHP_en-GBAU455AU455&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=cfa+mernda&fb=1&gl=au&hq=cfa+mernda&cid=10625401031164705610&ei=ZLRVT7e0GcuViQfqotXVCQ&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=placepage-link&resnum=4&ved=0CFIQ4gkwAw

Today is Smoke Alarm Action Day and it's time to make sure you have working smoke alarms in your homes🚨
Housefires increase over the winter months and making sure you have smoke alarms in all bedrooms, living areas and hallways is crucial. Working smoke alarms could save your life if a fire were to start.

A special day for some very special people 🧡

Today is Wear Orange Wednesday and while not all of us get to wear a cool orange uniform like our SES volunteers, we can all take a moment to say thank you for their service, dedication and unwavering commitment to both our local communities and those far beyond during times of need.

On behalf of our brigade, thank you to the incredible people just next door SES Whittlesea Unit and to every volunteer who wears orange and answers the call, every single time !

🧡 1 WEEK TO GO! 🧡

The countdown to Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) on 20 May is officially ON!

We’re calling on our community across Whittlesea to wear orange loud and proud and help us celebrate our incredible SES volunteers who give their time to help others when it matters most.

Whether it’s an orange shirt, socks, ribbon or a full head-to-toe fit — every splash of orange shows support and appreciation for our amazing volunteers. 🧡

Get involved by:
🧡 Wearing orange on Wednesday 20 May
🧡 Hosting an orange-themed event or morning tea
🧡 Sharing a message of thanks online
🧡 Using the hashtag

Let’s turn the community orange and show our SES volunteers how much they mean to us! 🙌🧡

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the tragic loss of two Marine Rescue volunteers who lost their lives overnight while responding to a yacht in distress in Northern NSW.

Our deepest condolences go out to their families, friends and the wider NSW volunteer community, that stands on the front line of rescue efforts, as they grieve the loss of two of their own.

Today we honour the courage and sacrifice of firefighters all over the world.

We thank the incredible members of our brigade for showing up, standing together and looking after each other and our community every single day !

Today, we pause to remember and honour the bravery of all those who came before us, those who wore the uniform so we wouldn’t have to and the legacy they left behind.

Today is also a reminder of the weight every serving member has carried and may continue to carry each day, often in silence. A reminder that the battles do not always end when they come home.

This ANZAC Day, marks the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings recognising and commemorating the service of over 2 million people who have served in all conflicts, wars, and peace operations since 1914. We stand proudly together as a brigade, remembering their sacrifices and carrying forward the values they fought to protect.

We also acknowledge the incredible current and ex-serving members within our brigade for their courage and the sacrifices they have made and continue to make in service to others.

Lest we forget !

We are proud of all our members who marched this month to help prevent veteran su***de.

Together, our incredible team raised $4,641 and covered a combined 733 km in support of this important cause.

Ex-serving males are 112% more likely to die by su***de than other Australian men, and ex-serving females are 107% more likely compared to other Australian women, a statistic that highlights just how critical this work is.

Funds raised from this march will support Soldier On’s mental health services, helping to prevent veteran su***de and provide ongoing support to those who have served.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported us, Commander Mark Richies, MP Lauren Kathage, Sasha Nackovski and Jarryd Lappin.
