Councillor for Coorong District Council 2022 Truly Independent Candidate for Coorong

I have lived in Meningie since 1982, raised my family here and enjoyed the wonderful community that we still call home today.

My career has centered around Meningie Hospital (which eventually incorporated the Health Centres at Coonalpyn and Tintinara) as the Director of Nursing and then moving into the combined position of CEO. My husband, George ran Rural Engineering Pty Ltd and has just recently retired. It is an honour to work for and consult with communities within the council area. Council has many challenges, including maintaining road networks, delivering, and maintaining community facilities, footpaths, lighting, and playgrounds within budget. Working together and lobbying our State and Federal governments is essential to bring about positive changes that increase economic development and improve sustainability. Our Council area needs more housing stock, youth support and community wellbeing programs and I will strive to bring these into our communities. What do I believe in? I believe in working for our communities through:
• COMMUNICATION, CONSULTATION & COURTESY
• DIVERSITY OF OPINION
• KNOWLEDGE & REASON
• RESPECT & RECONCILLATION
• WORKING TOGETHER FOR ALL
I have worked on many committees from kindergarten to Aged care.
• Regional Health committees,
• Water / Drought related committees
• Public Health Act review
• Representing Council: Cemetery, Progress, School Governing Council Committees, and internal Council Committees. I will continue to work for the communities of the Coorong using my knowledge and skills, a collaborative approach and independent thinking. Vote 1. This unique and recognisable feature that adorned the Meningie foreshore since 2015 is now up for grabs 🤝

🗿 Removed in late 2022 due to structural instability and wood decay, the sculpture is now looking for a new home.

Since the pelican’s removal, there has been much interest 🤔 from the community to see it remain in some form or another and now the opportunity has arisen for the pelican to be relocated to a new home.

Just a short update on what's happening at the Wadmore Precinct
(Melaleuca) There have been two groups of Volunteers working with Council to activate this site. One is looking at how the site can be used to support and enhance the Coorong community by utilizing this place.
The second is a clean-up crew which was reactivated recently with help from the Lions and others.
They are all registered volunteers of Council. If you would like to join and assist, I will be at Wadmore Precinct at 0900 tomorrow.
Come and have a chat even if you only want to know what is going on or how to join the group.
Happy to hear you feed back or questions my phone number 0458 121 830
