Our Stage 1 and 3 First Nations students had a wonderful day at Alfords Point PS at our Community of Schools event. The students enjoyed painting, bush food cooking, traditional dancing and making bush medicine with their friends from Alfords Point, Tharawal, Illawong and Lucas Heights schools.

🌱 Eco Heroes in Action! 🌱

Our Eco Heroes have been busy caring for our school gardens! 🪏🪴They’ve been planting in the flower beds and making sure our plants get plenty of water to grow and thrive. 🧑🏻‍🌾👩🏼‍🌾

⭐️ 1/2 Lorikeets ⭐️

1/2 Lorikeets enjoyed being scientists and sport stars throughout the week. 🥼⚽️

Some of us got invited up to be part of the Jollybops incursion. We blew up balloons which got covered with liquid nitrogen and some of us made balloons explode. It was a blast!! 💥 🎈

In sport we worked on our kicking skills by directing kicks to a partner. ⚽️
As a reward for working hard during reading groups we got to play a game of dodge ball. 🏆📚

Some of hard workers got to add their names to Mrs Hanegraaf’s stars. 🌟

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating the special dads, grandfathers and father figures in our school community! 🏆⚽️

Thank you to all the families who joined us on Friday for an afternoon of fun, games, laughter and quality time together. It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate these important relationships.

🧪Celebrating Science Week!🧪

What an action-packed ‘Science Week’ we’ve had! Our students were blown away by an incredible, high-energy science show presented by the Jollybops Scientists, sparking plenty of wonder, curiosity, and huge smiles across all stages - but the hands-on learning didn't stop there! Throughout the week, classrooms transformed into dynamic mini-laboratories as students tested their engineering, physics, and chemistry skills through a series of exciting experiments:

🌈 Walking Water – exploring capillary action and color mixing.
🌉 Paper Bridges & Foil Boats – testing structural strength and buoyancy.
🏗️ Spaghetti & Marshmallow Towers – building tall, stable designs under pressure.
🚀 Balloon Rockets – investigating thrust, air pressure, and motion!

It has been fantastic seeing our young scientists ask big questions, test their ideas, and discover how the world works. At Menai, we love science! 🔬✨
